The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially approved 747 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the upcoming 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), set to commence on Monday. This decision follows a rigorous accreditation process, as revealed in a recent bulletin by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor of JAMB.

Despite JAMB’s initial shortlisting of 907 CBT centres for accreditation, only 747 centres successfully met the stringent revalidation and integrity tests for the 2024 UTME exercise.

As the registration process unfolds, our correspondents at various CBT centres in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs have observed a diverse spectrum of experiences among the candidates.

During the monitoring of registration activities at these centres, it became evident that candidates showcased varying perspectives regarding the seamlessness of the registration process. While some lauded the efficiency, others encountered challenges.

At the Future Gate CBT Centre in One-Man village, one candidate, Chinaza Onuegbu, expressed concerns about being redirected to another centre without adequate explanation for the inconvenience. However, after persistence and subsequent instructions from the officials, the issue was resolved, albeit with a request for the candidate’s JAMB profile code, leading to an unexpected hurdle.

Similarly, at the Global Learning Institute, situated opposite the Federal Ministry of Finance, another candidate, Pelumi Rotimi, shared a contrasting experience of a seamless registration process, highlighting her aspirations for academic success and university admission.

To initiate the 2024 UTME registration, candidates are mandated to provide essential documents, including the National Identification Number (NIN), personal information, O’level results, choice of institution and course, undergo biometric verification, and pay the JAMB registration fee.
