A group, Patriotic Citizens for leadership and good governance Advocacy has passed vote of confidence on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ltd. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja for reinstituting integrity in the Army force.

The group made this known in a statement issued by the Convener, Comrade Achem Chris to commemorate the 2024 Armed forces Day Celebration.

The statement lauded Lt. General Lagbaja led administration and Army for standing firm despite being stretched by multiple operations going on simultaneously in different regions of the country.

According to Chris, its of a great important we gathered here today been on Tuesday 16th of January 2024 to celebrate our falling heroes and our ever gallant military men and women in service."

"As it been the normal rituals, the armed forces remembrance day (AFRD), also simply known as remembrance day, is observed on the 15th of January to commemorate the servicemen of the Nigerian armed forces. It also honors veterans of the world war I and II as well as the Nigerian civil war."

"Being a formal British colony, remembrance day was formerly celebrated on the 11th of November as Poppy day in the honor of the end of the First world war. Open the government victory, against Biafran troops on 15th January 1970, the day, the instrument of surrender was handed over to Olusegun Obasanjo by Philip Effiong of the Biafran army, hence, the holiday was moved off the calendar of the Commonwealth of Nation and was changed to 15th January in commemoration of the conclusion of the Nigerian civil war that sought to tear apart the unity of Nigeria."

"For the sake of Unity, and those in the military (Heroes) who stood gallantly to install unity and oneness by paying the supreme price, this celebration goes a long way to show that we value their sacrifices in time past and to encourage those currently in service never to let our dear nation down even as they stand in Frontline of duty in defense of our beloved country against terrorism, arm bandits and kidnappers; these elements who has constitute themselves to be an enemy of our dear Nation and the unity we all enjoy."

He therefore said, as a group of civil society, we want to personally recognize and identify with the person of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja for reinstituting integrity in the Army as they have been no leadership responsiveness and readiness to take responsibility in recent time like that of the Lt. General Lagbaja led leadership."

"On this ground we uninemously as a group pass vote of confidence on the Lt. General Lagbaja led administration and the Army for standing firm despite being stretched by multiple operations going on simultaneously in different regions of the country urging the Nigerian government and president Ahmed Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency prioritize and release of military budget to boost the morale of the troops and men of the Army in the battlefield.", Chris concluded.
