That is the thing, Organised Capital is a major force in business.

The earlier Africans understands this the better they stand to compete in the global business scene.

Organised capital is what happens when multiple investors and entrepreneurs galvanise their capital and business interest into one formidable business structure that builds up on their individual strengths, hides their individual weaknesses and works towards their common goal. Africans and Nigerians in extension have this "Solo Mission" mentality in business that is harmful in the long run especially when competing against deeper pockets. That is why we have several underdeveloped hospitals littered everywhere when all the directors of all the shrub hospitals would have merged capital to build a world class facility.

The Indians don't have this problem. Coming from a communal culture like Nigerians they use this to their advantage abroad. Indian families and communities abroad pool their resources together and form a business structure. Their capital can go towards any business that they agree upon and then they decide who among them or who should be appointed to be the face of the business. In this way, they set up pharmacies, shops, REITs, car wash, laundromats and other SMEs abroad with a capital base that is competitive enough.

I have not read anywhere sice this JAPA phenomenon emerged that Africans can pooling resources together to achieve something of scale and volume abroad, it is either how they are trying to make each other lose citizenship potential or sleeping with someone's wife. SMH

That's like a mall na.. where people go to get all sorta things.

Don't be surprised that the Nigerians into that business of selling African foods place unreasonable high prices on those food items while the Indians, Chinese and co. the poster of the video is talking about sell at cheaper prices. We sef get our own for body, always in a rush to make money not minding the after effects.

you really understand the whole thing and from the comments below, you're the only person who read the article at all.

Indians and Chinese are very good in doing this type of thing plus Arabs. They build one big house and run the family business from there. Yes, you may not be CEO but your children school fees will be paid. You will drive a good car and live a quality life.

Us Nigerians will be struggling with the small capital we have and the business will remain small forever. At the end of a generation, the business will die off completely.

Ambani family used this method to grow insane generational wealth

Smart take.

But the thing is if Nigerians do pool resources together, someone might stiff the rest. It's difficult for Nigerians to trust Nigerians.

Funny thing though is that Nigerians get offended when foreigners don't trust them.

You people should stop saying this; it makes no sense.

If our people cannot compete in that area, they should look for areas that have untapped potential. God gave everyone brains - using yours is a choice.

Truth be told though: Nigerians leave this country to hustle. In other words, we leave this country to go get a job, not to establish businesses. Big Nigerian businesses rarely go beyond Africa.

Push them out meaning competing with them and coming out victorious. Also Chinese, Indians, whites etc etc do not patronize Africans. They will rather the dollar stay in their community. We should do the same.

I'm sure if you go to that India store you will get things more cheaper than patronizing a Nigeria Store....

That's a fact. African stores owned by Nigerians in Canada are rip-offs. They sell things at more than 10 times the original price. For instance, one small tuber of yam is sold for about CAD15, that's like N15,000 at today's exchange rate. Is that not ridiculous?

I have noticed that wealthy Africans hardly prepare their children to inherit their businesses! They proudly tell you how their children are working for some big multinational, and then they sell their companies and will paper money to their children, or the company crumbles since the children were raised to be employees, hence there are few family run businesses in Africa

Some do. Coscharis, FCMB, Honeywell, OBJ farms and others already have their children running some of their businesses.

Hmmm! Probably due to their operational costs. Importing from Nigeria for instance can be very expensive.

I think they need better funding which is what Asians are able to do for themselves.

It's nothing but greed. If you talk of operating costs, they do not have higher operating costs than the likes of Sobeys, Walmart and Costco. If it's import cost, most of the food we eat in Canada is imported, and the cheapest thing you can buy here is food (African food excluded). So, we don't mind Chinese or Indians opening African stores. If they can sell cheaper, we'll patronize them.

Business cooperative groups are doing something similar in Nigeria and the benefits are just too numerous. I always thought Nigerians abroad are doing something similar.
