A tribe called Judah is a movie that features the lengths humans will go to meet their needs and protect the ones they love.

Not only that, the movie features one of the toughest debates running through generations and centuries: spousal vs motherly love—which is greater?

By the way, Testimony is the kind of woman every young man must push to experience in their lifetime, either as a girlfriend or a wife.
Jedidiah Judah is the zenith of human development—the balanced man.

Funke Akindele in her movie, featuring as Jedidiah Judah, buttresses the fact that women are loyal to their feelings and will stretch forth to fulfill their desires in matters of love and romance, as clearly expressed in her late teenage years.

Despite her father being a pastor, she lusts after the forbidden fruit, which leads to her getting pregnant at a young age, further leading to her procreating five children who represent three philosophical dimensions of humans. Of course, the mistakes of her early years are the foundational problem she continued to wrestle with even in her middle age.

Emeka Judah and Adamu Judah are representations of good men: men of competence and honor; men who value and rank character and reputation above all things; men who will rather move slowly to their destination than run at a high speed that will be detrimental to other commuters.

They are the first and second sons of Jedidiah Judah, respectively. However, as with all men, temptation amid a greater problem is the true test of integrity. Both men fell on the last day, however, in the pursuit of a course that transcended their bellies and pockets.

Pere Judah, the third son and Shina Judah, the fourth son of Jedidiah Judah, are representations of bad men. They are sociopathic sons who will sail seas, run through valleys, and climb high mountains to satisfy their desires.

Of course, in their pursuit of their gains, they don’t mind sacrificing as many individuals who stand as barriers. They are men rooted in themselves. A complete antithesis of their eldest brothers. Ditto for C and K furniture manager, Collette.
However, Collette wasn’t as melodramatic as Shina but as sleek as Pere, both always waiting for their victims to lie low or appear weak before striking.

The average man is timid, less obsessive, and just wants to mind his business by maintaining his little lane. This is a lukewarm character. It’s void of great ambitions, rooted in mediocrity, which veneers itself in the cloak of “Just be yourself”. Ejiro Judah, the fifth and last son of Jedidiah Judah, is a representation of such men.

Ejiro’s love affair with his girlfriend, Testimony, was a contributing factor in why he pushed to the heights of his creative ability and flare for danger. Though a fearful man, Testimony never made him feel relaxed.

She helps him in his career as an artist by selling his art with him and also engaging in a pitiful adventure in search of money. Both loved each other sincerely. Testimony is evidence that women who genuinely desire their men will ride with them in sunshine and rainfall.

Jedidiah Judah will do anything for her boys in whatever way she can. A kind of mother who won't offer her bad sons as scapegoats for public scrutiny but will discipline them indoors.

However, her arms of discipline were weak due to the absence of a father figure and an older wise person in the family. She tried her best, but it was never enough. Her past mistakes became her daily nightmares.

Despite her mistakes, she was ready to make amendments. She never allowed herself to get completely lost in her predicaments; she caught humor, jokes, songs, and dances. Hence, her alias—Blacks don’t crack.

She is a representation of Black Africans who still find moments of joy and hope despite their difficulties, failings, and poverty. She even went beyond her poverty to offer hope and give joy to other poor women by providing them with little funds for their specific purposes.

C and K furniture owner added more verification on the fact that “not all that glitters is gold”. Hiding behind furniture making and sales, the company was a pipeline for money laundering. He was not an excellent entrepreneur as many thought.
He was a thief and illegal businessman, albeit silent and sleek like Pere Judah but richer than him because of the differences in their scale of theft. The former is an international thief, while the latter is a local thief.

Ironically, the bigger thief couldn’t swallow a teaspoon of his medicine when he was attacked; he sought justice and fairness but fell into the hole he had dug for his enemies.

Jedidiah Judah isn’t among the saints like her sons, Emeka and Adamu. But she had a kind heart. Though not muscularly built and skilled like a warrior, she had her sons as her bow and arrow to unleash discipline and judgment upon those who would cause pain to the weak.

She is a prototype of a balanced man, exhibiting both kindness and ruthlessness at appropriate times. This makes “A Tribe Called Judah” a good movie to watch.
