We started doing the internals after we completed it, we supplied grid to see if the inverter will charge, inverter couldn't charge 🥲🥲.

We checked and disconnected the current limiter nothing changed.
We browse through the settings and nothing.

we were frustrated (this was happening around to 10 pm) and we were trying to head back to our destination.

Guess what, just long holding the ESC button was what had kept us on site for over 1hr+.

Damn it was our first time working with this inverter so we needed to get acquainted with the interface and set up.

In summary, we slept over and left the site on Sunday 8 am.
With the contractor heading back to warri while I stayed behind.

Na this roof them dey talk about.

I took a testing step and broke the roof.we discovered later that the wood there has decayed.

Now if you are an installer,I will advise you to inspect the roofing before you work on it.

I conquered the installation with no injury even after the accident.

Had a similar experience with the 5kva model. Connected everything and then inverter didnt supply output. Everything was intact and worse off,no error code. Na like say my village ppl were in my case as i had promised they wid commission it that day. Long story short, sent inverter back and was repaired under warranty.

I went back to Warri to round up some stuff(they are school related).

Considering that man has to keep body and Soul in uniformity, so I visited my boss who I learnt from (Na nwaboi approach I use to learn this job) he needed assistance on a project he was working on, since he will not be in town that was how we installed 4500wp of PV. + The additional 2700wp we meet there

After so many "I dey come I dey come grin"
Meet me by 10am grin
we journeyed to a betshop at ifie Warri Delta State.
On getting to the site, we meet a failed roofing structure (the roofs were leaking and the woods in some parts were broken already).

Fast forward, we got a ladder 🪜 and I had to figure a way out to drop down all the solar panels so the carpenter can do maintenance.

I got on the roof (there was a over head wire in my current position so I couldn't do the job from the ladder, the other 3 where all dropped from a ladder) and dropped the solar panels.

As much as we clamour for bigger wattage solar panels, I feel we should pay more attention to the maneuverability and the environment we install them.
This stuff where just too heavy considering I had to look over my head😩.

On this day we went out for maintenance, I got a call from @brightk that there was a need to reconfigure some panels, this was after we had Already swapped the inverter with another one from the previous betshop we visited.

We installed the inverter and inverter no gree on🥹...
Ah

This is something that was working in the previous shop.
We started thinking and thinking why the gennex inverter was not working, we had 0 idea.

However, In the earlier month at the other betshop, we had a discussion/argument with the cashier there on how long the inverter takes to switch off.

This was how we jump and pass 😂.
You know situation where you touch something and it spoils, Na so the client go disturb you not knowing there was an impending doom

This was installed after a friend of mine ( he studied electrical/electronics, but was more grounded in welding and fabrication) under quoted for a job and we had to start doing damage control.

The system was supposed to provide power for a 1.5hp inverter AC during the day and provide backup for other light appliances.

Considering that there was fire on the mountain, that was how we started trying to cut down cost, we priced and priced to the extent that I had to leave him at the shop there make he come out of the situation first 😂😂😂.

Finally we ended up doing

9pcs of 250w solar panels (though they claim the panel is 320w)
4pcs of gel batteries
5kva hybrid inverter (high pv).

Re: Solar Energy Logbook. by Obnoxious2001(m): 6:03pm On Jun 06
Our saving grace was the features of inverter AC if not them go call us quacks not knowing I just only handled the installation of the job.

Inverter AC actually don't have surges and they reduce their power consumption when it gets to a certain temperature.

Lol.

I have always pray not to be in such situations after I visited the army estate in warri to troubleshoot a battery failure ( the batteries were always over charging).

I was told that it was a 24v system not knowing it was a 48v system and this guy's connected 2 batteries in it because they didn't have a bypass system.

I was carried away with trying to figure out why it doesn't stop while charging (I do fix inverters low-key) so I was just thinking..

Low and behold, Na so another installer came and started troubleshooting then we found out it was 48v

I felt very stupid I was like I need to start paying less attention to what these people say. I wasn't paid a dime even though I told him about my callout fees but I wasn't bothered because I learnt a very big lesson.

1080wp of PV (6 unit of 180w though the client claimed they are 250w grin)

As usual we headed out myself and emeritus D great.

Before then I had supplied the almighty 60A powmr mppt solar charge, (I still have a unit available in warri if you need it).

The client procured his solar panels, wire then he reached us out again for the installation.

As usually we delivered.

Before we started, we had doubt that the space available on the roof will be sufficient, after so many back and forth, we delivered it as usual

28th April 2024.

A colleague of mine reached out to me that there was a government project that needed to be executed before on Monday.

Been familiar with government projects timing, I wasn't expecting it to be as soon as possible(i was informed on Thursday).

On Saturday the 27th, 8 able and capable bodied men headed out to Benin to commence the project.

We arrived Benin bypass at around 12pm, then boarded another bus to our apartment (yes there was provision for accommodation, but it was very far from the location that we had just spent a night then ditched it).

We used the opportunity to get all the railing, nails and bolts for the installation

On Sunday, the job commenced .
The weather was not friendly at all as we worked under the harsh weather conditions ( we were trying to meet up with the commissioning date which was Monday 29th 2024)

We worked day and night, because we were to mount 48pcs of solar 420w solar panels(10kwp of PV per location), 2pcs 15kwh felicity lithium battery and 4pcs of 7.5kva inverter at 2 different people location.

I have attached some images of the day and night life of the job.

One good thing this job did was expose me to other ways of mounting bigger wattage of panels, because brainstorming and coming to agreement took a whole lot of time but it was worth every part of it.

Obnoxious2001:
I got in with my journeyman and we started preparing the mounting rack ( we used interlock aluminium profile for this job, from experience I think they have better stability when trying to nail them into the roof)

We did some calculations to manage material grin grin grin my oga you dey owe me undecided . So we ended up using 3pcs of aluminium profile to mount 8pcs of the 550w solar panel.

Preparing the railing was not the problem self, pulling the panels up the roof was too stress full (all my body done break forget I said I was made for this 😭😭).

There where some many challenges with the ridge board has broken and some of the wood.

So we had to swap position (who dem dey lead sometimes no know Wetin leader they see) with me myself taking the most risky position on the roof.
We dont have pictures of the process just minor clips here and there.

But am grateful, am able to come back to this thread to document it
grin grin grin grin.
Shout out to all the key people involved in the project.

Hopefully, we I will be sharing update on battery and inverter system.
We are having some down time procuring the batteries

May 1st 2024.

Who remembers this 2 storey we worked on earlier?
We went back to that same location, but this time around we are to remove the solar panels and re-install them.

Initially the scope of the job was to bring it down totally then raise it back up.
I was like that is a lot of risk I will be exposing my team to(as we dey find money we still dey pray to see the next day Hale and hearty).

We discussed with the carpenter and came to a compromise that we will move the items around then roof simultaneously as they worked.

Earlier on the 1st of May, I visited this site to survey it before heading to leventies. We completed the job over there and commenced the job on this current location.

On this day we prepared the protection system (the earth pit) @brightk brought in a colleague from PHCN that supervised the whole procedure and Standard.
(Modified: we made use of gem, although the PHCN guy was not in agreement with us, he like money whey I fit use chop undecided, then he shared an alternative they used, cow dung and dongoyaro leaves. Surprise? So I was)

After the whole preparations, it started raining and we called it a day.

We just dash the ladder owner free money undecided.
