Disenchanted

Seyi's relationship with Queen blossomed into marriage. It was a marriage that was as weird as it was sudden. He hoped to make things work and to love her till death did them apart, but things did not exactly work that way. He became disenchanted and many unpleasant things happened thereafter.

We were still in celebration mood, after all. About four p.m, Queen said she would like to get some groceries in the neighbourhood. "Let me drive you there," I offered.

"Oh, no, don't bother. I will just take a walk."

She left with her ATM card. About a minute after she had gone, I decided to take some additional peppersoup. There were still some in the pot in the kitchen.

Clad only in a pair of boxers, I went to get it. Kubrat was in the kitchen, washing some plates.

"Do you want anything, sir?" she asked.

"Don't worry. Let me help myself."

I picked one of plates she had washed, and opened the pot. There were still four pieces of catfish there.

Good. I would take two while Queen could take the rest. I was putting the fish in the plate when I noticed that Kubrat suddenly jerked her body, like someone
who had been jolted by electricity.

"Are you alright?" I asked in concern.

She turned to stare at me. She looked like someone sleep-walking.

"Is everything alright with you?" I asked again.

She dropped what she was holding.

"Okay, uncle, let's do it," she said.

"Do what? What's wrong with you?"

She dropped what she was holding.

"Okay, uncle, let's do it," she said.

"Do what? What's wrong with you?"

I was shocked by the next thing she did. She removed the faded blue t-shirt she was wearing and dropped it on the floor.

In spite of the strangeness and suddeness, a carnal man would find the black bra encasing her boobs to be attractive.

"What has gone over you?" I demanded. "Are you going crazy?"

It was as if she did not hear me. She moved towards me and clung unto me.

"What, this is madness!" I said angrily. I tried to untangle her hands but I was surprised by her strenght. You are the man, my mind screamed at me.

I exerted more strenght to remove her grip, held her hands in vice-grip and pushed her back.

She staggered back, slipped and fell on the floor in an unconscious posture. I found myself breathing hard. Still breathing hard, I stared at her motionless body. Now, I was in panic mood, hoping that everything was alright with her.

"Kubrat!" I called her. "Kubrat!"

Kubrat!" I called her. "Kubrat!"

She did not answer. I moved to her and I could see her breathing. She must have fainted. Oh Lord, what do I do now? I imagined if Queen or anybody should enter the kitchen that very moment.

Seeing me in boxers and Kubrat on the floor, her upper part clad only in bra would give the impression that I had just sexually exploited her or was about to do so.

Who would believe that she was the one that made the seductive move? Gosh, I must do something.

Maybe I should wear the t-shirt back on her. I got the t-shirt, crouched by her side, put her in a sitting position, used my leg to wedge her at the back, and started to wear the shirt on her.

Why don't you take her? Part of my mind said.

What?

I was alarmed.

You have free access now, go ahead. You're holding her in your hand, why don't you give her what she wants? But another part of my mind said no! no!

I decided to obey the second part of my mind. After I finished wearing the cloth for her, she remained unconscious.

I decided to obey the second part of my mind. After I finished wearing the cloth for her, she remained unconscious.

What else should I do? I could get Bashir to help me take her down to my car so that I would take her to the hospital.

Alternatively, I could wait for Queen to return before deciding the next line of action. In any case, I should get dressed. I went back to the bedroom, forgetting about the pepper soup I had come to take.

In the bedroom, I quckly wore a jeans trousers and shirt, took some money, picked my car key and went back to the kitchen.

As soon as I got to the doorway, Kubrat sneezed slightly, opened her eyes and sat up.

"What ... what happened to me?"

I stopped, looking at her curiously.

She saw me and slowly got to her feet.

"Are you okay?" I asked, not sure of her next move.

"Yes, sir. What happened to me?"

I could see that she was back to her normal self. "You slipped, fell down and fainted."

"Oh, I didn't know. I must have made mistake in slipping."

This was all so strange. It was like I had just been part of a bizzare drama.

"Are you sure you're alright, or do you want me to take you to the hospital?"

"Oh, no, no," she quickly answered.

She went to the work she was doing. I remembered the pepper soup, took it and returned to the bedroom. I kept thinking about Kubrat's episode.

Could she have faked the whole thing? I thought briefly before deciding that it was not faked. It was like a bad spirit possessing her a while.

Minute later, Queen returned.

"Is everything alright, Honey?" she asked.

I had decided not to spill the beans. "Everything is all right," I answered and kissed her.

"Come. Come to the kitchen to see what I bought."

When we got there, Kubrat was sorting them out. Kubrat did not behave strangely again and I decided not to ask her about it.

Sharon too did not try to seduce me again. She seemed to have come to term with the reality that I was the husband of her 'Big Aunty'. I knew tand being a responsible father to your children is not easy, but I would not stop trying to be one.

The fact that I continued to have blissful relationship with my wife was an important and a desirable factor. Yes, it was a new dawn between my wife and me.

My major challenges were coming from ladies. This was as temptations kept coming my way. By wilful power, I was able to overcome them. Besides, I had the bounding duty to be committed to Queen and never to give in to any other woman.

I must overcome all odds. I hoped the affair would continue to be so sweet. I would be a dotting husband to her. No matter the challenges or problems, I was determined to love Queen till death do us apart.
