On Wednesday night, Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-2 in a penalty shootout to get to the AFCON final. The semi-final match finished in a 1-1 stalemate after 120 minutes. Aina missed his spot-kick during the shootout, kicking the ball over the crossbar. However, Stanley Nwabali made two saves to ensure Jose Peseiro’s side advanced to the final. Terem Moffi, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, and Kelechi Iheanacho each scored a penalty. Reacting in a video after the game, Ola Aina said, “these boys saved me. I don’t care.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/video-these-boys-saved-me-ola-aina-reacts-to-penalty-miss/amp/ |
