This amount is nothing compared to the fees Ghanaians pay in the universities here.

You Nigerians complain about bad government but you citizens are not even helping matters.

If you are lamenting over this token, how then do you expect Nigeria government to put in proper infrastructure in universities?

I paid almost 700,000 Naira equivalent (6600+ Cedis) for my first year MPhil in Science and about 655,000 Naira equivalent (6450+ cedis) in 2019-2021 as a Ghanaian citizen.

How many universities in Nigeria charge this much for master of philosophy?

So know this: Ghana government rips it's citizens to get money to put in amenities unlike Nigeria government that subsidizes everything for Nigerians yet Nigerians keep lamenting. Pay enough fees so that the university and the government will have money to put in amenities that make Nigerians rush schools in Ghana for nothing.

Are you a medical student? cause faculty of social sciences pay 1500 for both faculty and departmental due here in KSU. It also depends on your faculty and sometimes department.

N169K for Medical school and you are asking if it is too much? It's too little. That's why these schools are producing mediocre and semi-educated products. Medical school is very expensive anywhere in the world.
You always going to get what you pay for.
is there any field endeavor that doesn't cost much to do... Besides there's nothing like school fees or tuition in federal universities... So it could be slightly inflated

Unfortunately, sadly, you are right.

170000 naira is just about 110-120 dollars. And it is on that that we expect our universites to look like Oxford and Cambridge, where they pay far higher than that.
and som lecturers want higher pay beyond measure... Which is why some of them transfer aggression to students

You are right that it is free because their taxes are spent well by the government. But it’s still an advantage at least to be educated in English in Nigeria. Reading a whole university course in German is a disaster.
why is it a disaster??

And would you like to pay the kind of taxes that the average German pays to get that free education.? If TInubu started charging us German tax rate, there would be protests on the street, and not just by Obidents, even Tinubuites/agbado people...will join in.

Also, Nigeria does not export industrial goods and services, and have the kind of diversifed economy like Germany does. Blame your APC, and even all our past leaders since independence for that.

Una want free education? Nothing like that, there is some paying going on. If not fees, na taxes from everyone...yes, not every German goes to university...some start apprenticeships at 16 and start earning money then.

what kinda apprenticeship

Unfortunately due to geopolitics, it’s beginning to look like anything outside of English and French is just a monumental waste of time. Better stick to anglophone countries and leave other ones

This is roughly $115
Honestly it's not bad

We need to find away to improve our educational infrastructure, then attract foreign students charge them $2000 which is relatively cheap and use that to subsidies education for intelligent locals who meet certain GPA requirements

funny you. Most Nigerian graduates end up being unemployed, only few are underemployed
Education is not a means to a successful life.
There are so many illiterate that are successful in business in Nigeria and they control billions.
Education is just to open your eyes and wise up...be smart.
Where is it written that Ekenedili Chukwu schooled.?

education abroad is a different thing entirely. You can't school abroad as an indigene and be jobless like Nigerian graduates. It is not possible. The same education that gave most of the so called corrupt leaders automatic jobs after school? That same education is no longer meant to get job but to open your eyes grin

Open your eyes in a poverty country with insecurity

Remember that's a medical course. You want the school to run at a loss? Okay so how much do you think is appropriate?

despite being a medical course that doesn't guarantee employment or better employment in Nigeria. These our corrupt leaders went to almost free education during their time and got juicy offer after school. But now the reverse is the case. Remember medical courses aren't the only course in our University and obviously even not all sciences will study medical courses. Then what would be the fate of others? Unemployment or Yahoo Yahoo. Is that not most graduates are known for in Nigeria today? That money isn't much truly for any courses but Nigeria is a poor country whose masses cannot afford 2 square meal daily.
