As a Nigerian, I am happy Nigeria got to the finals of the AFCON although we only came second. I do not feel pained by Ivory Coast winning the cup, after all they are the host country and they have put a lot of efforts. But something pains me more.

What pains me more is the reaction of other African countries to our loss. This is no longer football. No longer banters. This is looking like real hatred. On Twitter and TikTok, the types of comments coming out from the citizens of certain countries show that Nigeria is seen as a threat across Africa.

Ivory Coast winning the tournament has not brought much joy as Nigeria losing the tournament. I keep asking as a Nigerian, what have we done wrong? Our population, outspokenness, little individual successes, some well pronounced crimes, or they just see us as a threat? I saw it somewhere that normal people in a particular West African country threw parties after our loss. I feel worried and I want Nigeriansā€™ opinion about how other west African countries see us based on personal experience.

I have some screenshots that look more like hatred than banters

Yes they do hate you, but I don't think a lot of Nigerians care.

Nigerians should stop interacting with them so much on social media. All these see finish comes from that. Just stay clear of anything other Africans and focus on your country, the west and Caribbean countries.

Seun should also ban any poster from other African country insulting us on his platform.

Nigerians are like the UK that hype themselves by claiming football is coming back home when they reach knockout stage of world cup. After Too much noise and bragging, it is pretty normal that others Africans would mock Nigeria when they fall short.
