The special investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu has asked the international criminal police organisation (Interpol) to place three suspects on its watchlist over an alleged fraud of $6,230,000.

The suspects are Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar, and Odoh Eric Ocheme.

The federal government had filed extradition charges against the trio for allegedly forging the signature of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and documents purportedly written by Boss Mustapha, the former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), to induce the payment of $6,230,000 from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The fund was purportedly meant for foreign election observers.

"That Adamu Abubakar (now at large), Imam Abubakar (now at large), Odoh Eric Ocheme (now at large), Bashirudeen Maishanu and others also now at large, on or about the 23 day of January, 2023, at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, forged the following documents: (1) The Presidency, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Identity Card in the name of Jibril Abubakar; (ii) Letter dated 23 January, 2023 purportedly written by Muhammad Buhari to the Mr. Boss Mustapha; (iii) Letter dated 26 January, 2023 purportedly written by Boss Mustapha to Mr. Godwin Emefiele; (iv) Central Bank of Nigeria Internal Memo dated 31 January, 2023 purportedly written by the Director, Banking Services Department to the Governor, and (v) Central Bank of Nigeria Internal Memo dated 7th February, 2023 purportedly written by the Director, Banking Services Department to the Branch Controller, Abuja, Branch, with the intent that the Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja Branch may in the believe that the documents are genuine be induced to pay you the sum of six million, two hundred and thirty thousand United States Dollars ($6,230,000.00) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 1(2)[c] of the Miscellaneous offences Act, Cap. M17 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010," the part of the charge sheet reads.

LETTER TO INTERPOL

In a letter dated February 12, 2024, the special investigator asked Interpol to place the three suspects on red notice.

The letter, signed by Eloho Okpoziakpo, the head of operations, office of the special investigator, was addressed to the assistant inspector-general of police, national central bureau (NCB) and Interpol.

"In the course of the Special Investigator’s assignment, Mr. Odoh Eric Ocheme, (a staff of the CBN) now at large and the other two accomplices, also now at large, were discovered to have conspired and forged documents in the name of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria with which they stole about US$6,230,000 (Six Million, Two Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars, in cash, from the coffers of the CBN," the letter reads

On January 18, 2024, Inyang Ekwo, a judge at a federal high court in Abuja, issued a warrant of arrest against the three suspects.

Ekwo issued the order following a motion moved by Celestine Odo, the counsel of the federal government.

There was revenue shortages under Buhari government leading to constant borrowing but ironically it seems the loans that we are paying now with crude oil has been looted under his government.

A whole central bank governor forging the president's signature.

Buhari was borrowing foreign loan to defend the naira. Which means he was subsidizing dollars for billionaires who are importers, manufacturers and children of rich who studying abroad while at same time paying fuel subsidies. He was burning the candle at both ends, left, right and center because he did not want to hurt the feelings of Nigerians.

The problems we currently face stem from years of the locusts eating into our commonwealth.

All the money we made in the past was used to wet the appetite of the already rich and the elites. How many poor people have seen dollars in their lives?

What is even more painful is that now that deliberate decisions are being taken to stop subsidizing the consumption appetite of the rich, the poor are suffering.

You steal money. Contribute what you stole to buy buses to transport the poor at affordable rates for them. Use your loot to open factories and employ the poor and pay them decent wages. Use part of your loot to contribute to state governments to build projects like roads and get equity from it for life. Use part of the loot to import machines that can be used to work for your nation. Use part of your loot to train people to aquire the needed skills for nation building.

Looting money and stashing them abroad makes you look silly. Buying useless properties abroad even makes you more silly.

I do not support looting, but if you loot without putting your loot to good use within the country and your people are destitute, one day, they'd rise against you and neither you nor your children will enjoy your loot.

Placing them on watch or arresting and bringing them to Justice. Which kind talk be this. This matter really surprised me. How can these kind of money be withdrawn without verification. This is to show us the kind of wicked leaders we have running down our life everyday.

The future of the poor was mortgaged to subsidize the needless appetite of the rich.

When I hear "defending the naira", I try to understand it, what/who is attacking the naira?

Most of the needs of the poor do not require dollars. For many years, the Nigerian establishment looked after the rich and neglected the poor. Even now, the rich, especially politicians, are hoarding palliatives meant for the poor. They allow these palliatives to rot away instead of giving to the poor because they think if the poor are hungry, they'd be too weak to fight.

What they fail to realize is that one day, the poor would have nothing to lose and out of desperation, may turn against them. That day, they'd realize the power of a crowd united by hunger, poverty, anger, and desperation.

It's funny seeing Bulaba bandits heaping all the blame on Buhari now, seeing that Jonathan's tenure is too far for them to be föolish but like I asked before, do you know what it means to forge a president's signature ? If indeed that allegation is true then, it's an indictment on the security apparatus around Buhari as at then seeing that the alleged forgery happened within the confines of the villa but I'm not surprised, things really shelle that period cool

Mehn!!

Crazy things really went down under Buhari's watch as president.

I think Trump was right when he referred to him as "the lifeless one".

Only God knows the quantum of sleaze the first lady and maman daura committed against our Treasury if a recharge card seller (Sabiu) can become so rich as to even own and maintain a private jet by being a "hanger" around the "Lifeless one" .

The people who paid it out were probably in on it or paying such money is routine in the Central bank.
Amazing how no one bothered to verify.

Billionaire hypocrites like Peter Obi whose desperate switch to communist LO labourers helped Tinubu achieve his Emilokan dream

“’I cannot take anything back about Obi. I said Obi said he wants to move Nigeria back from consumption to production and I said that is not true. He cannot do it because his own business survives on consumption. Is that a lie? He has been an importer and I said he deals with cash and carry economics; container economics, imports”.

“All the goods that can be produced in Nigeria, Obi imports them in his supermarkets. That is consumption economics. That kind of person cannot tell you that he is moving you from consumption to production. He will then be committing self-economic suicide and Obi will not do that to himself”.

“So, Obi is deceiving everybody and I can’t take that back because that is true. What I said about Asiwaju, I gave examples of his vision, knowledge and courage. There is none about Obi. You can’t point to any enduring legacy of Obi in his eight years as governor of Anambra”.

Buhari❗️❗️

What a government❗️❗️❗️😡😡😡😡

If it wasn't because of the rubber Stamp
assembly we had, what right did a
president even have to authorize the
release of funds without clearance
from national assembly.

Everybody took advantage of the loopholes
created by Buhari to raype this country.
And I tell you, what NNPC did will be worse
than Emefiele.

Emefiele was such a cheap egotistical
criminal.
