This country is a funny place. I remembered how hard I tried commercial farming as a teacher then. Na cows chop all my cassava. A friend that was beside who also invested hard earned money couldn't even pick a pin out of the farm.

When people's lives are in danger, how do you expect them to risk their lives to go to farm and come and be selling cheap products to you.

Many farmers lost their lives and many are victims of kidnappers. When did it ever cross your minds to fight for their release? Many people especially those in the city usually think farmers are slaves that should just produce food for them and they give peanuts. In this present day Nigeria, it takes courage to farm. If you think am saying rubbish go farm for Benue or Katsina now.

Useless people, instead of them to blame government for insecurities that has affected production, they blame farmers for not producing enough or for selling at high price.

If they born una papa well, go and start farming.

It's a sorry case.
Really sad case. They forget that they have existed in this location, this homeland even before Nigeria was created...they always seek their own downfall...they think it's fun.

Best thing Nigerians are greedy all over the world government regulate prices of goods
Our leaders are sleeping

How will government regulate prices of goods they don't produce? Una dey think at all? One of the major reasons why Prices of food is high because farmers are afraid to farm due to herdsman menace but instead of your government to tackle that, they're looking to force people to sell goods at a particular price while unthinking fellows like you cheer them on

It's in our laws, these global this, global that, it is in our laws...do you know better than Falana and the judge that ordered FG to intervene?

If you don't understand things shut up, okpolo eye no be open eye.

Am telling you now, a judge ruled that FG should intervene because a citizen like you took them to court... people like you are online all day spreading sarcasm, mediocrity and ignorance, while serious people put FG to task. The law envisioned a non chalant political class, that's why provisions are there in the constitution to make them do their job!
Lukewarm people are spat out.
You people are mediocres, just sarcasms and jokes una sabi, dull people...we are talking our constitutional provisions you are talking nonsense. If all Nigerians were like you, the country would have been buried. Docile people.

You want the FG workers to just fold hands and be chopping money without working for Nigerians?

Judge ruled that Tinubu govt can fix prices. The type of judge that ruled Tinubu as duly elected president of Nigeria?
The type of judge who wouldn't ask why INEC couldn't stop the presidential election when it had so-called glitch in its system so that INEC would continue with the election after rectifying the so-called glitch? Judge for hire.

Is it the food they produce or the ones produced by individuals?

A farmer who spent/invested higher will sell higher.

It's too late.

Farmers in the Northern part of the country are already stockpiling food and selling it to neighboring Niger in secret.

They claim that it's business, and they hope to turn a profit.

The overrated buffoon Tinubu and his Efulefu gang got off to a bad start.

He was terribly overrated.

Ignore those saboteurs and their zombies, even in America I remember when Trump banned Chinese imports, saying they must pay more tarrifs...I remember when American government ordered companies to reduce prices of commodities... Nigerians have enemies within, some out of bitterness, others are just zombie followers, they think it's cool to abuse the country, and wish it ill. You will know the low IQ zombies, they are never objective they just say things to attract likes from their kind, and for laughs and sarcasm...in reality they are dumb.

You can't force anyone to sell his/her product at your desired rate in an open market.

The govt. should revert to cashless policy as soon as possible and begin to tactically mop up the excess money already in circulation.

Everyone should brace up for this year's planting season, each house hold should plant something..

Hmmmmm!

How many people are into farming in America that is feeding all Americans?

Mechanisation of farming by government is the only way out of this hunger and not everyone going into one old fashioned farming.

How can Nigeria govt regulate commodity price, when farmers are paying for security to secure their farmland and farm produce . When you remove subsidy you think it won't affect commodity. By May this year we shall celebrate one year in seige APC. I don't expect anything good from this current administration, you said you increased allocation nobody maintained minimum wage. Let's talk less about Nigeria. When it's time God Himself we do the needful.

Cashless policy will help reduce money in people's hands

In effect, it will reduce inflation to some extent.
Cashless policy, if properly implemented will checkmate money laundering and kidnapping for ransom.
They can even reintroduce naira redesign to mop up excess money in circulation.

Exactly. Start price regulations and scarcity results...because farmers won't agree to sell for less prices , and wholesalers won't sell at a loss, neither would transporters agree to carry food at a loss.

We would end up with what used to happen in the soviet bloc, periodic scarcity of food stuffs.

All farm lands should be confiscated and their. Rops harvested and sold at auction

Forex problem is about too much demand for dollars, due to high importation volume, and hoarding of dollars by Nigerians causing dollar scarcity...it's very different from government protecting it's people against producers and manufacturers from exploiting the people.

Make una dey think, make dem no think say all Nigerians are idiots.

Dollar issue and domestic pricing issues very different.

I should ask you to think before you type because it's obvious you are not using your thinking cap.

Why didn't said dollar hoarding harm the naira during GEJ's tenure or why wasn't it this bad under Buhari, even though Buhari was really bad.

Mr slowpoke, your Man Crush Monday is clueless about how to run a country and has been going from failure to failure, na here we go dey when price of food will double again.

He said he opened national reserve but food prices are still soaring higher.

When something like food is scarce, do you regulate the price or increase it's production? grin This is basic economics fgs!

All this una dark age policies.

Lazy head, any solution...every clown knows the problems...can your negative lazy head bring a solution?

Great men like Falana and others are looking for solutions, taking FG to court, to ensure Justice, fiscal accountability and equity, enlightening Nigerians about what is happening, and dishing out the numbers to Nigerians so they hold their leaders to account, a grown man like you will be online hating on your country, causing confusion and joking like a clown. Saboteurs are not useful.

If everyone in the world thinks so poorly like you, humanity would still be in stone age.
Re: Hardship: FG Moves To Regulate Food Prices by Ken4Christ: 7:46pm On Feb 14
One of the main cause of high price in food items is transportation.

Get the railways to work effectively across major cities and price will drop.

The second reason is that most farmers still use manual means of planting. The government should invest in agriculture and ensure that planting and harvesting is mechanized. It will increase production rate with subsequent drop in prices.

Lastly, they should improve on security to protect farmers from bandits and terrorists.

They used to do it in the ussr. Did not work. It even led to the creation of a large black market for foodstuff.
