For him to speak out, it simply means that Tinubu's government is no longer favouring their family. Don't be deceived by their hypocritic cry.
I'm surprised too...

Someone should please breakdown what the parliamentary government is all about and how it will improve this country.

This country tire me walahi
For one Tinubu would be debating obi and atiku every week at the national Assembly

He would have to defend all his policies, no hiding place, he must be present weekly

Obi would have the chance to challenge him on his actions face to face

Obi would have his shadow ministers analyzing everything Tinubu ministers does

It's a type of government where old men cabt survive... You can't be slow and survive parliamentary system

Buhari would not have lasted 3 years Max

When the suffering of Nigerians started under the leadership of Buhari, why was this parliamentary rubbish not raised then? Now the South is in power, still trying to wriggle out of the economic mess started by Buhari, they came up with this. I laugh grin grin grin grin grin

The south in power doesn’t mean anything except to you. Tinubu is representing himself there not the south. The south is in power and people are suffering. Any suggestion that will take this country forward, I support it. Because once we go parliamentary, we cannot reverse it even when the north comes back to power.

Because of crude oil in the Niger delta region, unitary government system under presidential system was imposed upon Nigeria by northern military dictators who latter proliferated states in one northern region to suck more of proceeds from crude oil into the north leaving the two southern regions with smaller number of states and little of the crude oil proceeds.
Presidential system with inherent insecurity is now bitting harder on those who imposed it.

North are power mongers, it's either the country is shared or we return fully to regionalism. If the parliamentary system is allowed this time around no Southern will ever smell the sit of power again. Parliamentary system only worked when Nigeria is not as divided as this undecided

I PREFER A CONFEDERAL SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT.

A LOOSE UNION.

WITH EACH REGION HAVING FEDERAL POWERS TO DEVELOP THEIR RESPECTIVE REGION INDEPENDENT OF THE OTHER.

FULANI HERDSMEN KILLING IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF NIGERIA AND THE REJECTION OF RUGA SYSTEM BY THE SOUTH AND MIDDLE BELT REGION HAS PROVEN THAT THERE SHOULD BE A HIGH LEVEL OF AUTONOMY BY THE REGION TO GROW AND DEVELOP.

The northern part of Nigeria can choose to pursue Islamic religious system - THE SHARIAH if that is what they so much loved and believed in.

While regions in the middle belt and southern part of Nigeria can choose to operate a liberal system of government that guarantees their rights , freedom and technological development with the rest part of the developed world.

The North is tired of life outside Power so soon. This is funny indeed! He should back regionalism, not parliamentary system! Simple.

Exactly. .. When they have their brother in power ... presidential system is great .. when not in power they prefer parliamentary. They control the senate so that means they still remain in power with a parliamentary. Infact for life they remain in power as they will always have more senators

I know, I just want them to start work regional government first before going towards parliamentary government, and not parliamentary government before regional government.
That way, any of the governments excesses can be checkmated if not caged sef like someone said two comments away.

Do you get my point?
What do u mean by checkmating excess of the federal government?
I do not understand that point...but i got other point,

Rubbish,

Form of government is not our problem in this country, no matter the form of government we choose without restructuring and equal representation, it cannot work.

To be Frank, military is the solution for Nigeria

What we need are a band of tough majors and Lt colonels from the middle belt leaning north to rise to the occasion and reset this shithole.

Restructure Nigeria back to regionalism.

Let the indigenous peoples develop with their peculiarity and grow through healthy competition with other regions.

In a regional system, the North would perfect their mining and Agriculture, the SouthEast and South West their oil and gas exploration; the middle Belt, food production and processing and our refineries would have been working by now.

The land-grabbing being perpetrated by the Fulani in the Benue would have been deemed an act of aggression and would have been curtailed by now.

Its only in a federal system that the North would foist the brain-dead Buhari on Nigeria and the SouthWest support a microphone-licking great grandfather Tinubu to be president.

In a regional system of government, these men would have been relegated to merely entertaining courtesy calls by visiting politicians who felt nice and polite.
U deliberately omitted SS frm ur analogy thinking everybody here is daft.

A parliamentary system without direct election of the prime Minister is not good...
A parliamentary system that will need parties and coalition to form government will pave way for instability, we cannot afford to continue running elections due to cost...
We tweak the parliamentary system to enable the prime Minister to be voted directly by the masses and would not need party or coalition to form government...he would just select ministers and focus on governance..
Parliamentary system biggest advantage is that u can not have a dullard as prime Minister...unlike the presidential system where the president can easily hide
can you explain more on this system

The same system we had that collapsed in the 1st republic. Nonsense
We just need to have a proper federal system, with the states and LG having full fiscal autonomy and resource control. No more sharing money as monthly allocation. That will force us to move from consumption to production

Good move but restructuring and regional system of govt wilk be the best for a country like Nigeria with multi culture and tribes. But I think this particular bill may not go beyond it present stage, naija politicians won't gree for this bill.
