Us Cancels Warning On Nigeria Capital Hotels by ayzree: 1:56pm On Nov 10, 2011 |
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has canceled its alert warning citizens to stay away from three luxury hotels in the oil-rich nation's capital. The embassy issued a statement to citizens Thursday saying that the time the attacks were to occur at the Hilton, Nicon Luxury and Sheraton hotels had passed. The embassy also noted increased security checks there and at other government facilities in the capital Abuja. Nigeria government officials downplayed the warning issued Sunday, which came after a radical Muslim sect known as Boko Haram launched attacks in northeast Nigeria that killed more than 100 people last week. The embassy still instructed citizens to "maintain a high level of vigilance and personal awareness" near "Nigerian government facilities, diplomatic missions, large gathering places, hotels, markets and malls and places of worship." http://news.yahoo.com/us-cancels-warning-nigeria-capital-hotels-113939820.html;_ylt=AthnoMh6E1Qt5TvzphnQrnq96Q8F;_ylu=X3oDMTQ0Z3FkbmN0BG1pdANUb3BTdG9yeSBXb3JsZFNGIEFmcmljYVNTRgRwa2cDZjllNDIwYjYtOTIxNS0zOTY5LThkYmMtOTNkMzRhZTA5MzQ3BHBvcwM1BHNlYwN0b3Bfc3RvcnkEdmVyA2MwY2NkMGYwLTBiOTAtMTFlMS1hNzhmLWZmNzIzM2U4MmI4Mw--;_ylg=X3oDMTFxaTJhMjZtBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAN3b3JsZHxhZnJpY2EEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnM-;_ylv=3 |
