An ulcer is a sore that forms on the surface of an organ or tissue, and it can occur in various parts of the body, including the skin, mouth, stomach, and intestines. A stomach ulcer, also known as a gastric ulcer, develops on the inner lining of the stomach when the protective lining is compromised, allowing digestive acids to damage the stomach tissue.
