kettykin: Brother, Allow me educate you. The value of a currency is determined by how useful that currency is. For example, if people, outside the country, need that currency, its value increases. If they don’t, its value decreases. So, say someone wants to buy something from Nigeria, he technically has to have naira, so he will bring say dollars. Therefore, he will need naira and the value of naira will increase. However, in the reverse, I want to buy something from outside, I will use my naira, change it dollar to buy the something. And in economics, when there is scarcity, the price/value increases. To avoid the value increasing, dem Jonathan and Buhari were borrowing $$ to provide $$ to people that want to buy. Thus, we had what was called artificial value. Nigeria was borrowing to do big boy, while running into heavy debt. Now, there is no more borrowing, we have a value that is determined by market forces. 1 Like |

You never tire for this your unpopular crusade for your unpopular Agbado eating Balabu? Abi, suffer never tire you or e never reach your side? Oga, use your data to type better thing. Your candidate is a monumental failure till Jesus comes. Or what do you call a failed leader with no leadership blueprint? Balabu has no plans for Nigerians, so he can't succeed, because he's a square peg in a round hole. benuejosh: 1 Like |

As long as CBN prints naira at will, CBN is the root cause of inflation. So CBN pretends to fight inflation but inflation keeps getting worse over the years. |

You want to enjoy the perks of office without taking responsibility. You are a clueless CBN governor with an empty brain. Your policies are causing economic pathologies to the citizen. . Resign and get out, instead of using your trial-and-error policies to kill of Nigerians with hunger. |

nlfpmod:The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, says himself and his team are not responsible for the current economic woes in the country. This was made known by Cardoso while answering questions from journalists at the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the apex bank, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Abuja, the first since he assumed office in September 2023. Cardoso, however, said the CBN is taking the necessary steps to get the country’s fiscal and monetary health back to normal. He said the current management of the CBN assumed responsibility at a time of crisis of confidence, adding that efforts being made to redress this are beginning to yield results. We need to do the difficult thing to make things better While responding to a question that the CBN was responsible for the current economic challenges faced by Nigerians, Cardoso said, “I laugh at that question but it’s not a laughing matter,” Cardoso retorted. “And I think it is very important for Nigerians to understand that the Central Bank Governor — I and my team — are not responsible for the woes that we have today; we are part of the solution. “We are determined to ensure that we work hard to get out of the mess that Nigeria is in. We assumed responsibility in a time of crisis of confidence; there was a crisis of confidence and you may all want to go to bed and wish that crisis of confidence was not there but it was, and we can’t turn back the clock. |
