I'm a graduate of psychology. I'm serving at present, but I do not want to be carried away by the freedom of my service year.

I dream to work at one of the big 4 companies, but I'm confused about what professional certification I can obtain to stand out. I only graduated with 2.1 (4.12/5.0), but I know there countless of people who graduated with better CGPAs with the same dream.

I'm not good at math, so I'm scared of ICAN. Kindly recommend certs I can obtain to level up. Cost effective but well recognized certs between. Thaank you.

Apply and pass the tests and interviews. You don't need to get ICAN to get in.

For real?

You think being a graduate of psychology wouldn't be a barrier, giving that I do not have knowledge of account or auditing?

No, you only need your 2 1 to get invited. I will focus on how to pass the tests cause if you fail you have missed the chance for the year.

I have someone who uses Psychology to work in FRAUD department of a fintech, she works remotely and earns six figures....

I think the certifications you should focus on should be TECH SKILLS...... Accounting certifications and Virtual Assistant (so you can have some money for your run around and for food and cloths, just little dollars)

1st class graduates have a higher chance. As you have been told, you just need to pass their tests first.

The easier route is via tech, and you don't like maths. If you must go for certification, I think tech is better. I am not so sure accounting certs can give you an edge these days if you want to break into the big 4. It is more useful when you are there, especially if you are in their audit department. Their management consulting department is about your brain. What works is getting a good grade from the world's top universities. Best students from top Nigerian universities can get into the big 4 too easily than others. But not all of them. Most of them always go for masters outside the country

With tech, you have more options, and not only in the big 4.

My advice is that you sit for the US GRE and "smash" it. Get a very high score that you can use to get a 100% scholarship to the US. To me, it is easier than trying to get a job in Naija now.

If you have uncles and aunts who can still support you, look into Austria and find a school where you can pay €750 or less annually.

After spending a year in the big 4, trust me...you will start thinking how to move out. So, why don't you try it also while looking for a job that is so hard to get?

If you have access to a backyard that is spacious enough (half plot extra), learn gardening and you can raise money within 2 to 3 years for your graduate study in places like Germany, Austria, and maybe Finland without asking anyone for help. And then, cross to the UK US, or Canada after you finish your program.

If you box yourself to ONLY getting a job with the big 4, you may be frustrated. You will get anyhow job and frustration can set in. You are in a tough environment where there is nothing. Think also of making money instead of only getting a job. You should try to get your dream job, but you must have other options....else, you will lose it.

Since you have enough time now, you are not good with maths, but if you are good with logic and you are a deep thinker, try to learn to trade. You can get good free resources online to get started. Learn macroeconomics and chart reading. Do not put your money there until after your skill is ok using a demo account. Invest 1 full year to learn it well. Trading is not gambling. Yoj must understand how the algorithm works. If you don't, then, you are gambling. 95% of traders gamble because they do not understand the algorithm. This is the real way out of the financial mess because it is tapping into the world economy that cannot fail.

Listen to me. In those days, we were in the dark and nothing for Africa. But Covid-19 was the instrument God used for some of us in Africa. The devil thought he would level Africa out with COVID-19, but it was all gain for Africa. COVID is the reason tech boys are making it (online jobs) cos they have just realised that there are talents in Africa. It is the reason all nations have cut down tourist/business visas and they focus more on work visas and talent-hunt from Africa.

Position yourself to move out of Africa or tap into the world economy.

Good luck!
