kikake:fool. Idiot naim u be. Bastard. Complete one. Central or unitary government doesn't or didnt exclude the governance of regions by millitary admins or governors. Fajuyi, ojukwi and hassan katsina were the governors of the western, eastern, and northern regions, respectively b4 creation of states by gowon by dividing them. Same as you have governors today, who have no control over resources. U are a confirmed dull person.my 5 year old is far more brilliant than u. Goat. Get off my mention |

Creamypie: Third Class History graduate. Thief in rewriting History. Regional governments of the time left by Ironsi are more powerful than the states of today as far as resources control and administration are concerned. |

kikake:extension of mumuism. I graduated with second class upper from department of history/international studies from Delsu, abraka in 2009. The 6th best. Ozuo. Gowon followed constitution/edict written by ironsi and created states shortly after, to weaken them and make the center strong |

Was war declaration part of the condition for reneging on the Aburi accord? Or a show of arrogance when there was still other options.quote author=gidgiddy post=128762665]I laugh when I hear people thanking Gowon for abolishing the 4 Region's Nigeria had and creating states. These people think it was for their benefit but they are yet to understand that it was for the benefit of Gowon and his fellow Northern cohorts These people never bothered to read the Decrees Gowon used in creating states to realise that Gowon not only gave the North half of the states he created, but that Gowon also abolished resource control and placed all resources in the hands of the Federal government. Gowon gave you states but took control of your resources, what's the point? As for the war, These people do not also realise that it was Gowon who broke the peace agreement him and Ojukwu signed in Aburi, Ghana, which led to war Ignorance is a terrible disease [/quote] |

Creamypie: You aren't intelligent enough to understand that you corroborated my assertion with the bolded aspect of your comment which emphasised my stance that Gowon created states to take powers from the regions to strengthen the central government. An action which totally dissolved the regional management of affairs in Nigeria. By the way, is Gowon a fool to follow a template from his predecessor if the template would eventually lead to worsening Nigeria's management, as it turned out to be? In Nigeria, many successive govts abandoned the templates set by their predecessors. Ozu of History. Gerraout of here with your DESU 2nd Class degree in History. 1 Like 1 Share |

gidgiddy: You’re wasting your precious time with these nasty bigots! It should come as no surprise that a preponderance of them arguing with you and giving this thread traction are Tinubu/APC minions….and from just one or two ethnicities! It’s threads like this, you’ll see them spend the whole day…..anything to ensure there’s division between Ndigbo and other ethnicities in the eastern region, so their rape of Niger-Delta resources can continue unhindered and the tortured survival of their ‘one Nigeria’ is assured! 1 Like |

gidgiddy: [STATE CREATION WAS ULTIMATELY HIJACKED BY OTHERS TO CREATE A MOST POWERFUL POLITICAL CLASS IN ONE SIDE OF NIGERIA] --- Yakubu Gowon. At one point some ten or so years ago, Gowon cried out in an interview that states creation which he started was ultimately hijacked to create a most powerful political class for one side of Nigeria. Of course, the far north was in Gowon's mind, after IBB and Abacha proliferated undeserved large number of states and local government Councils in the far north sharia states to siphon most of oil revenues to the far north, as well as undeserved large number of Senatorial, House of Rep legislators and ministerial posts to the far north region. Today, if southern politicians talk about political restructuring of Nigeria, the far north politicians tell them to come to the National Assembly for political restructuring; knowing full well that the National Assembly is overpopulated by Senators and Reps from the far north who will vote down any political restructuring which does not allow the far north to retain its present political advantage over rest of the regions of Nigeria. |

Roger3D: You no longer mention Niger delta but now mention Delta states. Dumbo. To checkmate continued exploitation of the Niger delta region and stop pollution to the Niger delta region's environment by you parasites from hundreds of kilometres away, that's the reason Igbos want to join hands with the other coastal tribes in the Niger delta region. It's NEVER because of the crude oil in the coastal area of the Niger delta region that the Igbos curry the Union of the others in the coastal area of the Niger delta region. Develop more sense. |

gidgiddy: Baba!! Ojukwu declared war because he believed oil belongs to Eastern region, but as Gowon succeed in separate NigerDelta from Igbo, all foreigners that were supporting him in order to get access to oil back out. Leaving people of Biafra to theirself. On Ironsi, he did not abolished regional but he changed government system to unitary where all power are vest on federal |
