Pursuing a medical degree in Nigeria can be an expensive endeavor, with tuition fees ranging from 100,000 to 400,000 naira per session in most institutions. However, there are a few medical schools that offer quality training at relatively affordable rates.

Based on the research I made recently, One of the most affordable is the University of Ibadan. As one of Nigeria's oldest and most prestigious institutions, UI offers a 6-year MBBS program for around 150,000 to 200,000 naira per session. The school is acclaimed for its high academic standards and extensive medical facilities.

Lagos State University (LASU) College of Medicine is another budget-friendly option with tuition of about 150,000 naira per session. The medical program spans 6 years, equipping students with clinical knowledge across fields like internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and more. LASU also partners with teaching hospitals to provide practical learning.

For private universities, Madonna University has emerged as an attractive choice. With fees of approximately 350,000 naira per session, its medical program allows students to acquire medical expertise in a conducive environment. The curriculum exposes students to varying medical specializations with emphasis on ethical practices.

Gregory University is another private school making medical education more accessible at approximately 300,000 naira per session. It offers a 6-year MBBS program focused on relevant training in modern healthcare practices through collaboration with medical institutes worldwide.

With quality instruction for about 250,000 naira per session, Novena University rounds out the list with its fully accredited College of Health Sciences. The program prides itself on competent faculty and advanced infrastructure for essential practical knowledge.

While not exhaustive, these universities represent some of the most pocket-friendly options for studying medicine in Nigeria currently. Their affordable fees coupled with dedicating faculty make them worthwhile choices for aspiring doctors.
