DANIEL 3:24

[Daniel 3:24 BSB] - Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.

[Daniel 3:24 ICB] - Then King Nebuchadnezzar was very surprised and jumped to his feet. He asked the men who advised him, “Didn’t we tie up only three men? Didn’t we throw them into the fire?” They answered, “Yes, our king.”

Two things about the king in the Bible verse above:

PART ONE - AMAZEMENT AFTER ASSASSINATION

*1* The King was shocked (astonished)

Stories would be read and told —That there have been great people who others thought putting them to death or destruction meant ending them or silencing them forever; but they realized to their great shock/amazement that killing those people only made them far more alive and far more influential and powerful than they were before.

In this Bible verse above, Nebuchadnezzar the king acted like a man who is shocked at seeing the people he killed yet alive; seeing alive and thriving the people he was sure he killed and confirmed dead. It's as if he was seeing ghosts. The way Cain was shocked at hearing the voice of his brother Abel still speaking after he was sure he killed him. The king in Bible above became more shocked, more astonished, more restless and unable to remain sited on his throne of power for those three Christians he condemned, consumed and destroyed by the fire, because those he killed refused to remain dead or to stay dead; and that haunts.

PART TWO - ACCOUNTABILITY AFTER ASSASSINATION

*2* The King asked his advisers/counselors, didn't we threw three men into the fire? And they confirmed it so.

By the king's question and by the answer his advisers/counselors gave him here, then there are these two Accountabilities:

*A* Accountability for the Number of people they cast into the fire or killed; — (In this case they were 3)

*B* Accountability for all those who supported, agreed or were involved in condemning and casting the 3 men into the furnace of fire: — (In this case it was not the King only that was responsible but including his advisers, counselors and ministers, involved)

How many people were killed by us, and how many were we who killed them?

A — How God and His People would account for the number or statistics of those who shall be cast into the lake of fire is by retaining those books the angels used in recording the deeds of everyone of those who's names are not written in the Book of Life. Even though the damned shall be cast into the lake of fire, the records of the heavens about them shall remain with the heavens.

B — How God and His People would account for those who were with Him, who supported Him and agreed with Him, in decision of casting anyone into the lake of fire, is by God not conducting the final Judgment alone or in isolation but involving the chosen saints and the Panel of Judges so that it would be in agreement of atleast two or three who stand for Righteousness, Justice, Mercy, Holiness, Wisdom and Truth, before anyone is cast into the Fire.
