Many indigenes and residents of Edo North Senatorial District have expressed their displeasure over the planned impeachment of the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.

Recall that Shaibu fell out with Governor Godwin in 2023 over plans to contest for governor of Edo State.

During the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary elect in February, Shaibu organized a parallel poll in his residence where he was declared winner. Asue Ighodalo was declared winner of the main PDP primary election in Edo State.

Last week, the Edo State House of Assembly issued Shaibu an impeachment notice.

But the protesters, who were seen chanting solidarity songs, urged Governor Obaseki to give peace a chance.

Some inscriptions on their placards read: “No to impeachment of Edo deputy governor”, “Peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be achieved by understanding”, “Give peace a chance”, “We choose peace against impeachment”, and “Edo people reject impeachment of the Deputy Governor”.

The protesters, who trooped out in their numbers, described the move to impeach Shaibu as a political vendatta.

The protesting women, men and youths, under the aegis of Edo North PDP Rescue Movement (ENREM), first converged on the popular Jattu junction in Etsako West Local Government. They later marched on major streets of the communities.

The leader of the protesters, Festus Owu, urged Edo lawmakers to focus on providing good legislation for residents and indigenes, instead of engaging in the fruitless venture of impeachment that would bring no food to the table of hungry citizens.

They urged Governor Obaseki to prevail on the House to discontinue any impeachment move against the deputy governor.

Kikikiki... Oshiomole at work
Instead of the mumu DG to respect himself, he dey do gragra everywhere.

I listened to him once or twice on TV and I concluded this guy is empty.Edo deserves better.

If not for the fact that Asue had been with Oshi OM'OLE and Obaseki, the guy looks good.

But Akpata is going to win if there's a credible election.

Edo is tired of PDP and doesn't want to hia APC (Ahmed People's Congress)

Shaibu is gone already. His cup became full when he went to Wadata to ask for certificate of return. He even threatened PDP in their Headquarters. Who does that when you do not have control over the House of Assembly.

These "rented" Auchi Poly students don cash out N3k each which Shaibu should have saved for rainy days.

See Obaseki whom the gods helped cracked his palm fruit.

Politicians without honor.

Obaseki is a hypocrite, to imagine people were supporting the wicked man against Oshiomole

Deputy Shaibu,

This is not a fight you can win as thuggery and intellectual limitations do have limits.

What are your options?

(1) Approach a court and get a restraining order against the governor and house of assembly.

(2) Once you score that victory, stay in PDP and work hard against the governor's candidate. You can team up with the dude in LP, just ensure you do G5 on Obaseki.

(3) Reconcile with the governor and work for the party to avoid being witch-hunted.

(4) Whether you succeed with (1) amd (2) above, retire from politics.

You are clearly someone who has latched on the shoulders of others; unfortunately, you could not stand on your own. Now that you are trying to, you have done it the most ridiculous way. You fought too many people and amassed enemies for yourself. Obaseki is not someone to stick out your neck for as he is clearly an ingrate. The fight between both of you was long foreseen. Unfortunately for you, he has the upper hand.

Now is the time to apply your brains and pray for a miracle.

If you come to another life, understand that politics is about building relationships.

Oshiomole would even want the impeachment to happen now now.

Na dat one dey always pain una. U guys never understood that statement, it means no politician in Edo state is linked by an umbilical cord to their godfathers like they do in Lagos. Case study Fashola vs Tinubu, Ambode vs Tinubu.
