Jakumo:Daily occurrence in the North. Once it happens in the south, it's to burn the whole community. Nonsense. They should deploy intelligence gathering and smoke out the criminals. Burning houses of innocent civilians in the South of Nigeria should stop. 2 Likes |

nams77: Back in the 1960s American GI infantrymen wiped out entire Vietnamese villages because weapons caches belonging to the Viet Cong enemy were found in those villages, or because enemy food supplies were discovered there. Women, children, and livestock were summarily shot and blown up with grenades as their villages were laid to waste in several of those reprisal raids conducted by the US military. Court martial proceedings were carried out in a few cases where troops ran amok like that, but few convictions were secured. Far more recently in Myanmar, which was formerly called Burma, government troops supported by helicopter gunships massacred the entire populations of SEVERAL villages in reprisal attacks launched against suspected supporters of rebel forces, with the aftermath following those mass killings photographed copiously and posted online for the world to see, as recently as last year 2023. Since the dawn of recorded history, every war on every continent has recorded massacres by troops that were either condoned or actively supported by the military high command on BOTH sides of the conflict. Nigeria is therefore not alone in this regard, meaning that it is reasonable to expect that any ambush of Nigerian federal troops that results in casualties WILL lead to reprisals that will be disproportionate in scope and maniacally ruthless in execution. 2 Likes |

Restructure Nigeria, let every state and geopolitical zone have own military in capacity of state national guards, then that will create more cooperation between military and local communities. How far with the State police bill being debated in the national Assemblies? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: 22 Soldiers Killed In Ambush In Delta State Community Graphics Warning. by 30naira: 12:34pm On Mar 17 |
Jakumo: While civilian casualty is sometimes inevitable, There is never a scenario where it is acceptable for a military to launch attacks on civilians. Attacking civilians is a Nigerian army thing. It isn't something "Any" army does. A targeted and measured response is what sensible armies organise. Killing civilians achieves nothing, as the perpetrators are still largely unaffected |

nams77: The killing of soldiers is an act of war regardless of whether war has been declared officially. One act of war triggers another, and retribution is in progress right now, with soldiers having set at least one village on fire in the past few hours. |
