Political Charlatans Are The Criminals In Nigeria! by z07ion: 11:27pm On Mar 16 |
Nigeria has been beguiled by a deficit of true political leadership because all those who had ascended to positions of power and authority succeeded not through relevant experiences or educational qualifications but by sheer guts of inordinate ambitions! Political ascendancy at all levels from Independence to date had been a process of unclassified leadership struggle without articulate direction or road maps! Genuinely-interested leaders have never made it to the presidency, governorship or local government positions at the grassroots because their primary motivation was for personal gains/aggrandizement which is at variance with the DOCTRINE OF MODERN POLITICS! WHO ARE THE CHARLATANS? They are the Hustlers, Leaches, Fraudulent, Fakes, Pretenders Tricksters, Sham, Ticks...etc. Classification: 1) Raw village boys/girls who were restricted to the rural barbaric environment culture without any form of worldview. 2) Hustlers and adventurists who ventured out to seek better existence in nearby towns that hardly experienced any form of civilization: and devoid of socio-economic manifestation - like public water system, sewage facilities, health institutions except local clinics scarcely with drugs; without any planned or sustained primary/secondary education program! 3) Opportunists: Half-baked Village Primary/Secondary School Leavers – employed by the Local Government Area (LGA) authority and in spite of crude mentalities discovered that Nigerian Politics was" A MINEFIELD OF MASSIVE CORRUPTION to be harnessed! At independence both Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, the First Prime Minister and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe the ceremonial President were educated and could be classified as potential leaders but did they possess requisite knowledge of modern politics? Following the 1966 military coup, a mixture of local and foreign-trained soldiers took over the mantle, accused the leadership of institutional corruption, tribalism, nepotism, flamboyant lifestyle etc, and brought the nation into political turmoil! NB: Charlatans have over the years from post-military era to date have perfected their craftsmanship and outsmarted the thoroughly educated elite (who should have known better that politics in Nigeria would not have been discarded as A DIRTY GAME IF THEY HAD NOT ABSTAINED! The Charlatans now drive most expensive vehicles on the highway, state-of-the-art aircrafts and choppers, enjoy the luxury of the best Fire Star Hotels all over the world at the expense of the virtuous, faultless, impeccable, immaculate, highly-educated Nigerian elites WHO WOULD NOT TOUCH POLITICS WITH A LONG POLE! POLITICS DOES NOT NEED BARREL OF GUNS TO THRIVE! What is politics in simple words? Politics is the way that people living in groups make decisions. Politics is about making agreements between people so that they can live together in groups such as tribes, cities, or countries. In large groups, such as countries, some people may spend a lot of their time making such agreements. From the inception of the contraption called Nigeria, the meaning of politics was turned upside down. Politics means opportunity to steal all available funds at all levels of governments among survival of the fittest and wait for "Heaven to fall"! According to Section 13; 14(1-4): Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 13. "It shall be the duty and responsibility of all organs of government, and of all authorities and persons, exercising legislative, executive or judicial powers, to conform to, observe and apply the provisions of this Chapter of this Constitution. 14. (1) The Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be a State based on the principles of democracy and social justice. (2) It is hereby, accordingly, declared that: (a) sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government through this Constitution derives all its powers and authority; (b) the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government: and (c) the participation by the people in their government shall be ensured in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution. (3) The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few State or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies. (4) The composition of the Government of a State, a local government council, or any of the agencies of such Government or council, and the conduct of the affairs of the Government or council or such agencies shall be carried out in such manner as to recognise the diversity of the people within its area of authority." CROOKED NIGERIANS HAVE CELEBRATED CHARLATANS FROM OLUSEGUN OBASANJO TO AHMED BOLA TINUBU WHILE THE SOVEREIGN CITIZENS HAVE BEEN POLITICALLY SIDELINED! We of this Editorial Board have categorically stated that presidential system of government in a development nation like Nigeria is ANATHEMA! AND WE HAVE BEEN PROVED RIGHT BECAUSE Nigeria HAS BECOME A BANKRUPT NATION! Nigeria’s total public debt reached NGN87.91 trillion naira by the end of Quarter 3 of 2023 according to statistics from the Debt Management Office (DMO)! The few Charlatans that enjoy the PERKS OF OFFICE have continued to lavish the scarce resources of the Nation by borrowing more to satiate their penchant for luxury in office; BUT MUST THEY GET AWAY WITH BLUE MURDER? WAS IT NOT HIGH TIME FOR THE CITIZENS TO DEMAND FOR PAYMENT OF ALL LOANS (LOCAL& INTERNATIONAL), TO BE OFFSET THROUGH SALES OF LUXURY NATIONAL ASSETS BEING EXCLUSIVELY ENJOYED BY THESE CHARLATANS? (1) THE PRESIDENTIAL FLEET MUST BE SOLD TO PAY OFF NIGERIA DEBTS! Erstwhile President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari promised to cut wastages in government by selling off some of the official 10 Presidential Air Fleet but SPENT UP TO 41.9 BILLION NAIRA ON THE FLEET BEFORE HE DEPARTED OFFICE, (2015-2023), contrary to his 2015 presidential election campaigns promises to reduce waste in governance by downsizing the fleet. As of October 2016, when his government last made a public inventory of the PAF, the fleet included 10 aircraft, namely one Boeing Business Jet (or Air Force One) 737, one Gulfstream G550, one Gulfstream G500, one Hawker 4000, two Falcon 7X, two AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters, and two AgustaWestland AW101 helicopters which upkeep increased by 243% in six years! After taking office on May 29, 2015, the 2016 Appropriation Act signed by Buhari allocated N3.652bn for the upkeep of the presidential fleet. In 2017, the cost of maintenance of the presidential aircraft rose to N4.37bn (19.6 per cent). The figure then skyrocketed to N7.260bn (98.7 per cent) in 2018. In 2019, the cost of maintaining the PAF again rose to N7.297bn (99.6 per cent). The allocation, however, fell to N6.793bn (86 per cent) in 2020. But in 2021, the budget for the presidential fleet saw its sharpest Buhari-era jump to N12.550bn (243.6 per cent). The combined estimated value of Nigeria’s PAF is $347.4m (N142.96bn) and funding increased to N81bn under Buhari! (2) ALL ABANDONED FEDERAL AND STATES INSTITUTIONAL EDIFICES AND STRUCTURES IN THE COMMERCIAL CITY OF LAGOS SHOULD BE PUBLICLY AUCTIONED AND SOLD TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR! (3) THE FOUR REFINERIES SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY REPAIRED, REFURBISHED AND SOLD TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR FOR OPTIMUM GAIN TO OFFSET THE NATIONAL DEBTS. Mr. President Tinubu has the option to fly in his private jets like other billionaires in his government or go COMMERCIAL! BOLA TINUBU PROMISED TO CONTINUE THE LEGACY OF HIS PREDECESSOR! Tinubu cannot and must not continue to go down the PRECIPICE that will take the nation deeper into further debts through prodigal expenses! For the UMPTEENTH TIME, We advise that he should champion the POPULAR DEMAND FOR A UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT THROUGH REFERENDUM AND SAVE HIMSELF FROM FURTHER EMBARRASSMENT AND DISGRACE OUT OF OFFICE! A Word is sufficient for the wise! [EXPECT A PRIME MINISTER IN NIGERIA NOW!] I am, yours sincerely, THE WATCHMAN Dr. David B.A. Olufon. 08130669886, 08080243066. g-mail-dvdolufon@gmail. |
