"Egg is a luxury meant for the SUPER rich." Governor Dumbo of Akwa Ibom, 2024. Also, the entire initiative sounds DUMB! Apparently the vouchers to be used for this are IMPORTED. Even a simple man can easily deduce that importation is harmful to the exchange rate at the moment. By importing paper, the exchange rate gets worse. When the exchange rate gets worse, the price of foodstuffs go UP. That includes the rice that this dude is planning to subsidize. Then there is the matter of the 5% interest in addition to the ACTUAL subsidy to be paid. The NEGATIVE effects of this initiative could potentially CANCEL OUT the positives. That takes the people on a long journey back to square one. And that's the best case scenario. The worst case scenario is that the negatives could be so bad that it worsens the plights of the citizens. Including those that neither benefited from the programme and even those outside the state. Nigeria is just cursed with leaders with NO vision and no presence of mind to hire competent people that are not ass-kissing sycophants. A simple solution would be to use the database available to them to offer "Welfare Cheques" to people who deserve it. No need to garnish it with UNNECESSARY motions. 1 Like |

See the kind of people we are voting as leaders. If this statement is true, then he was ideally saying that poor people doesn't deserve a good thing in life. 1 Like |

Since 1999,Akwaibom state has not really had good governors that can develop HDI. They have deliberately made the people poor, and then build roads when the vast majority can't afford common egg. See most of them doing house girls, gate man,bar man at mama put here in Abuja. And to think that, this is a wealthy oil rich state makes me angry. Educationally, they haven't helped their people sincerely. 1 Like 1 Share |
