Airtel Is Frustrating Nigerians With NIN Linkage. by bilag17(m): 4:34pm On Mar 19 |
I have Airtel line which I have been using for a long time. I registered for my NIN, with the line, which NIMC acknowledge on their online platform as "NIN LINKED". I had retrieved my NIN several times with the Airtel number, and did the GSM number linkage as directed by NCC, which Airtel confirmed then. Suddenly, Airtel sent a msg to me that there's a mismatch with my NIN. Contacted the Customer care, and I was told my line was not linked with my NIN. I checked NIMC online platform, there my line is linked. I even got my Virtual - NIN, sent it to Airtel, and got the msg below: Your NIN has a mismatch with your KYC details. Click https:///3IySDeA or visit Airtel Shop with your NIN. Dial *386*2# for the Airtel Shop near you. I visited the Airtel site, filled the KYC form, capture, and submitted, then the msg: Your NIN validation is in progress. You will receive a confirmation SMS when validation is done. Few days after the submission, dialled *996# to check my NIN Status , below us the msg received. Your NIN is INVALID and not in the NIMC database. Is Airtel compatible with NIMC database? As for me I'll say no. If I could access the NIMC platform and view my data, then why is Airtel saying the contrary? Many Nigerians have been passing through a lot of hardship to get customer care service to link their lines at the so called Airtel Shops, to avoid their lines being blocked. The Airtel management should take further steps to reduce the hardship, and stress their customers are going through. We are all stakeholders, through regular airtime and data purchases. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Thought twas only me. Before you make any single call they'll first talk about NIN linkage that takes almost 30sec before they'll now connect your call, very annoying. Nemesis0147: They repeat that prompt every single time you try to make a call. 3 Likes |

This is the same story I get every time I want to make a call. The NIMC shows that my number is linked. Anyway, I just called their bluff. I ain't going nowhere for any linkage, let them do their worst. |

Below is the first message I received yesterday again from Airtel Dear Valued Customer, your NIN has a mismatch with your details. Please update your details at any of our Airtel KYC centres/Airtel shops. Come along with your NIN slip or AFFIDAVIT. Dial *384# to find nearest Airtel KYC Then followed with this: Dear Valued Customer, your VNIN failed NIMC verification. Please check that you submitted the correct VNIN or visit any NIMC office close to you for your VNIN revalidation. Airtel Cares Please, how can VNIN (Virtual-NIN), generated by NIMC, failed NIMC verification? Is Airtel not a confused organization trying to confuse Nigerians? Is Airtel discrediting all the efforts of the Nigerian Government with software incompatible with NIMC online platform? NOT ACCEPTABLE NCC must hear this o. Airtel does not care, frustrating millions of Nigerians everyday. |

Finally, Airtel has partially blocked my line, asking me to contact Customer care. I can no longer make calls with the line. I'm happy, other networks successfully linked my SIM with the same NIN, Airtel is finding it difficult to link, despite NIMC online platform confirming the Airtel number line linkage. PLEASE, IS THE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY STILL WORKING? |

UPDATES Filled the Airtel online NIN submission form for the second time yesterday morning and submitted. Got a message; Your NIN validation is in progress. You will receive a confirmation SMS when validation is done. After the message above, then this followed: Dear Customer, Your line will be BLOCKED TODAY because your NIN has a mismatch with your KYC details. Click https:///3IySDeA or visit Airtel Shop with your NIN. Dial *386*2# for the Airtel Shop near you Made up my mind last night to forget about the Airtel line, because I am not ready for the stressful encounter Nigerians go through at Airtel Customer centers. Then this morning the message below appeared: Dear Valued Customer, your NIN verification was successful. You can now enjoy uninterrupted services on your Smartphone Network. Thank you for choosing Airtel Can you imagine how many Nigerians with legitimate Airtel lines and NIN are being frustrated daily, parading Airtel customer centers, under uncomfortable conditions, and still have their lines blocked? IT'S TIME FOR NIGERIANS TO SPEAK OUT FOR BETTER SERVICES, WHICH MAKE GREAT NATIONS. NIGERIA IS A GREAT NATION, ALL HANDS MUST BE ON THE DECK, TO MAKE THIS A REALITY. 1 Like 1 Share |
