Gossiphub: You're the one who is confused plus very ignorant and mentally lazy to boot. Nothing is wrong in what she has said because humanity has always survived by seeking solutions for existentialist challenges. When bacteria infection threatened to wipe out the world Alexander Fleming rose to the challenge, hit the lab and gave us Penicillin winning a Nobel prize for his sterling effort. Even during covid, scientist and researchers worked round the clock to find palliative medicine and ultimately deliver vaccines. Now the world is normal again. Food security is an existentialist challenge the Tinubus did not cause. Our first lady merely and correctly asked that we all rise to the challenge ,in very difficult and challenging times, to do our bit and steady the ship till we reach steady waters again. Instead many of you abnormal, uncouth, bitter and hateful people are just heaping senseless insults on her. Do you think Government and leaders alone must do it all for you without being ready to be called, as responsible citizens awake to their civic duty, to play your part in times of national emergencies? Nigeria is gone and will remain desolate if your sort are the majority of human resources she parades. A nation now parading a large percentage of worthless, abusive, entitled and "born throway" adults who only excel at hurling insults and nothing else. 1 Like |

slimfit1: I don't understand so everybody in Nigeria should grow their own food? The few that live in urban area with no access to land or funds to acquire one. What happens to them? Secondly, those in rural area with access to farm land do they have the knowledge and resources to grow enough to feed themselves and sale to exchanges for things they do not grow? Do they have the facilities to ensure adequate storage of their produce so that they not only produce to eat from their farm but to sale all year round? At what point are we going to start to critically examining the hogwash these politicians are selling to us. Some things sounds good on the surface but in reality it is not. Mind you I am yet to find a modern society where everyone is growing their own food. 3 Likes 1 Share |

This woman should stop talking online because she's talking off point, though the media can't be trusted, they can twist anything just to gain public interest. |

TopBanter: What she said does not make any sense it is just a fluffy word that means nothing in the actual sense. 1. Can you tell me one modern progressive society where everyone is growing their own food? 2. People with other sources of income can easily subsist with farming. While waiting for their farm produce to mature they can use their other income to take care of things. During no planting or harvest season they have something to fall back on. 3. What about people living in urban area with neither land to farm nor fund to procure one? 4. For those living in rural area with access to land do they have the knowledge to not only sustain their families on farming? 5. For agriculture to be effective we do not need many farmers. What we need is the infrastructure such as cheap funds for farmers to get farm equipment, access to international market (by our farmers are properly informed of international guidelines for their products). Decent government subsidy to ensure that farmers can comfortably sell their products at competitive prices. With this in place 100000 big farmers can feed Nigeria and still have enough to export. 6. Yes what she said on the surface sounds good but when you exam it you will realize that it is nothing but hogwash. 2 Likes |

nedu666: This right here is the Gospel truth! Something I tried putting across to one idiot echoing the words of that insensitive First lady. With the number of farmers in Nigeria, we should be exporting food worth Billions every year... Which means we should have more than enough food items cheaply sold in Nigeria. Food supply should be the least of our problems. |

TopBanter: Learn to say the truth and quit following clueless leaders dumbly. The only solution to food crisis in Nigeria is not every youth farming! The solution to food security is SECURITY! Food crisis was caused by insecurity, not failure of Nigerians to farm. This insecurity is what will chase away investors from the nation. If you don't address fundamental issues but keep coming up with dumb cosmetic approaches like Remi Tinubu did above, you will keep dwelling in failure and mediocrity. High food producing nations like Holland, Canada, Ukraine, etc, don't have up to 20% of their population doing agriculture... Facts!!! 1 Like |

dettolgel: How can it be hogwash? You’re talking above our present reality and challenge with your post which shows you don’t understand that quick fixes are sometimes needed for existential challenges before robust, comprehensive and long term solutions, such as you correctly suggest, can be in place. Our First Lady did not put the onus of deliverance of food security on Nigerians alone. She is imploring, for now, they play their part while Government do their bit also to create a synergy of effort that will solve a national problem before enduring and long-term solution becomes our reality. The issue is that Nigerians love attacking leaders and government they feel, with their exaggerated sense of entitlement, must address all their issues and even wipe their asses for them. The average Nigerian does not even view himself as part of the solution anymore. He is comfortable, with begging bowl in hand, pleading for charity for every problem he faces to include those he has the power and capacity to solve. Since the food security problems began, even with the blockade Northern farmers enacted against the South under Buhari, I have been researching fish, livestock and crop farming. I have never farmed before but rose to the challenge because I believe government cannot do it all. I have now started a fish farm an Uncle supervises for me while I provide the investment (start-up and ongoing cost) to get us to first yield. Google “start a fish farm in your garden”. Use the video option to see loads of videos of how to inexpensively begin farming Catfish, Tilapia etal to satisfy your own domestic need with even enough to sell profitably. The fact is that citizens worldwide rise up to the challenge of doing their bit when their nation is severely troubled. I have done my bit and it has been a good journey so far showing me most Nigerians can also do same if they eschew all forms of bitterness against leaders and leadership failure to instead focus on what can be, for themselves and fellow Nigerians, if they join the solutions-provision search for our nation in areas they at least have some control over. With farming, and in safe areas of Nigeria, your yield is your own to use in fighting hunger and perhaps even making yourself rich. Bottom line is that Tinubu did not cause the problem. Buhari did. Buhari led with such anti-Nigeria wickedness to the extent it is even a miracle we at not at Rwanda genocide level currently. In some parts of the North, bandit insecurity has rendered farming a “death business” because criminals now demand large sums of money to allow farmers harvest or face death and destruction of their farm and yield. Knowing this reality, and instead of focusing on the problems alone as many are obsessed with doing, why can’t Nigerians show they can rise to a challenge by starting small farms where safe to do so? That way we defeat the problem in the short term and also frustrate those, unfortunately in the ascendency today, who want a Nigeria beset with hunger, chaos, killings, divisions etc. 1 Like |
