I keep saying that monopoly is dangerous for any society.

Dangote has been enjoying for several decades and he's been holding the Nigerian market hostage. Just recently, he unilaterally increased price of cement by over 300%, jerking price up from N4000 to over N17000... All other cement producers followed suit.

According to Dangote's image washers, Dangote is right for jerking up the price of cement because dollar has also appreciated against the naira.

Despite receiving subsidized dollars from Nigerian government through CBN, despite getting wavers to import cement input from government, despite getting over 80% of the input for cement production right here in Nigeria, Dangote still choose to strangulate Nigeria and Nigerians, especially those in the south, by increasing the price of cement.

Dangote is able to do this because of the monopoly he enjoys. He'll do worse in future if left unchecked.
