Olopoeyan urges Tinubu to redeploy Adelabu from power ministry if electricity must stable

The Southwest leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan, has called on President Bola Tinubu to redeploy the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu if there must be a steady power supply across the nation.

The Ibadan-based politician, while speaking to newsmen about the epileptic power supply across the country, and the worse dimension it has become in Ibadan since Adelabu became the Minister of Power, said the worsened situation of power supply would require a holistic approach to address.

According to him, “The approach will include the need to declare an emergency on the power sector and to also redeploy Adelabu to another ministry where he has prerequisite knowledge.”

Olopoeyan, who resides in between the Bashorun and Akobo, areas of Ibadan, said, “I do not know why President Bola Tinubu is so nepotistic in the appointment of Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who studied finance and was a former Deputy Governor of Central Bank? The minister doesn’t have any background in electrical engineering to head the power ministry. What I am seeing is sabotage and his (Adelabu) base Ibadan is bearing the brunt.

" There is no power supply in the entire Oyo state, not to mention Ibadan. Imagine me spending N49,000 to buy diesel and N21,000 on petrol every day to run generating sets.”

Olopoeyan insisted that until Adelabu is appropriately redeployed power supply can never be gotten right, add that
the minister perhaps is more engulfed in his 2027 gubernatorial ambition in Oyo state than sitting down to ensure that the needful is done in the ministry he currently heads.

He said former President Olusegun Obasanjo made a similar mistake when he placed the late Chief Bola Ige, who was a lawyer in charge of this same power ministry, the result was a failure until Ige was redeployed to the Justice Ministry.

" In as much the FG can't make an Engineer by profession to head CBN or a Legal Practitioner to head Federal Government Hospital so, making a chartered accountant to head the power sector will always be a wrong appointment and the performance will be negative," Olopoeyan said

There's no lie in Olopoeniyan's summation, in fact, Adelabu is a indirect saboteur of the renew hope agenda as it has to do with the power sector.

Instead of doing the work, all we see from Adelabu is collecting bribe SUV of 298m or urging the federal government to remove power subsidy.

May we be delivered from the Minister of Darkness

You can imagine. A minister of power that has a background in finance and also wants to be a governor. No wonder the power situation has been worse in recent times.
