Anyone Studying With Scholarship To Belgium? by chidosky4ril: 7:46pm On Apr 04
Hello everyone,

I'm seeking advice regarding my student visa application for KU Leuven University for entry in September 2024. A family friend who owns a company in the US has generously offered to provide a scholarship document to cover my living expenses in Belgium. I'm wondering about the feasibility of obtaining a visa with this scholarship and what specific documents would be required from his company. Since he's based in the US and there's no direct family relationship, I understand the Annex 32 form wouldn't be applicable. Does the scholarship document need to be legalized with the Belgian Embassy in the US before sending it to me or just the documents only? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated to avoid potential errors and visa denials.

Thank you!

There are 3 ways to prove financial sufficiency for Belgium
1. Blocked account
2. Annexe 32 (Sponsorship)
3. Scholarship

The Scholarship has to be something official, where you and other candidates have applied and based on your application the Scholarship was awarded. You cannot just generate a document and say you have a scholarship

If the person in US just wants to help fund your travel then he can pay in the amount into your blocked account.

Good luck

Dear all,

I feel the need to write this to all concerned persons. I will say thank you to everyone for your contributions towards my query on this platform. Some were nice to leave helpful comments, while others bad-mouthed me; but in all, I am grateful because all comments (good or bad) paved the way. I made the inquiry on behalf of someone not about me because I am currently in Ireland and didn't know how things are with the Belgium visa application, hence I joined this platform. To cut the story short, he applied for his visa on 6 June 2024 and was invited for a written interview in Abuja 1 week later. Currently, the process is completed and as we speak, he has his visa for Belgium. Contrary to the long wait for visa applications for Belgium, his application took 18 working days. I was made to understand that some applications are sent to the Immigration in Brussels (3-5 months), while others are decided in the Belgium embassy in Nigeria, hence, the short decision timeframe. Should you have any questions, I am available to guide you or provide all you need to prepare for yours. Once again, thank you everyone!
