First it was subsidy for petroleum products, then came the Fall πŸ‚ of the NairaπŸ’΅, increase in Food and other essential commodities skyrocketed, not to talk 🦜🐦🦜 about insecurity, now it's electricity πŸ”Œ, these people keep biting Nigerians and the funny 🀣 thing is the elasticity that we can be stretched defies the Laws of Elasticity.. What can really be done to bring succour to the Common Man
U people are just plain stupid. Tinubu wants to take from the rich to subsidize electricity for the common man. You out of ignorance as usual starts making urself a willing tool in the hand of the rich to protest this good initiative. Oga, do u get 20hrs light per day or u belong to band A. What is your problem?

Listen bro, nobody is against anyone doing legit business. What were against is the blatant robbery that's going on in the power sector just like most other sectors in the country. The power guysake a killing from estimated billing and I believe it's a prime reason why they're so lethargic as regards taking any meaningful actions to improve the sector. Generate and distribute 1MW and bill consumers for 10MW.

Regarding them making losses, that's what they want us to believe. They're even doing a very poor job pushing that narrative. I mean, how does a company that is struggling to survive engage in CSR no matter how small. Is there a law that mandates such?

Check the link below for evidence from one of them:
https://www.ikejaelectric.com/csr/

Also, the idea that power is so expensive globally is not entirely correct. Some states in the "almighty" US with a minimum wage of about N1.5m equivalent pay les than N120/KWH. See proof below:

https://www.electricchoice.com/electricity-prices-by-state/

The truth is that successive governments have always taken the easy way out which is shifting the responsibility to the citizens. They sold the few power infrastructure we have for cheap. Now they want to use our money to "improve" the same infrastructure. Mind you, history tells whoever cares to listen that they'll not improve nada. It's going to be same old same old until we get a government that is ready to do the right things.

So, let';s end the robbery by allowing the companies charge the price they need to charge to make enough profits to fix things.

It's that simple.

SOME SILLY BANKERS AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ARE AT DAGGER DRAWN WITH THE NIGERIANS.
GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE THINGS EASY BY
1, TAGGING NAIRA AT N500:$1 NOW.
2, REGULATE PETROL AT N500 PER LITER.
3, DIESEL AT N500 PER LITER,
4, KEROSENE AT N500 PER GALLON.
5, ELECTRICITY AT N70 PER UNIT.
6, GAS AT N500 PER UNIT.

I wish it was that simple bro. But history suggests otherwise. See below:

Even then, things cost money and no one promised us that democracy would be easy

The sad thing about this world is people love making money. We are more like Scrooge than crackit. ( Apologies to Charles Dickens). That's why we have to pay insane prices to get 24 hour power because everyone on the line wants to be paid . And if they can't get paid they resort to corruption

I effing wish there was another way for us to get cheap power. But there isn't. The USSR that was doing subsidise power collapsed partly because it was too difficult to keep it up.
