…REITERATES COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPING FCT RURAL COMMUNITIES

1. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to the provision of infrastructure in rural communities of the FCT Area Councils.

2. The FCT Minister said this when he carried out a routine inspection of ongoing road projects in the Kwali Area Council on Friday, 12th April.

3. The projects inspected by the FCT Minister included the 3.2-kilometer access road to Kwali town through the “Satellite quarters” and Angwan Hausawa areas of the town from the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway and its accompanying bridge as well as the 11-kilometer Yangoji – Sukuku – Ebo roads.

4. Barrister Wike said development cannot be concentrated only in the city center and assured that the FCT Administration will also take development to the rural areas, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

5. He said developing the FCT Area Councils will not only discourage rural-urban migration but will also improve security in the FCT Area Councils and ensure that people at the grassroots feel the impact of governance.

6. According to the FCT Minister, “You have to take development to the rural areas. That alone can mitigate rural-urban migration. You need to give them the infrastructure to develop on their own. For example, their farmers, how will they carry their produce to the city without any road. In terms of security, just imagine if people were kidnapped. How will the security agencies have access to this kind of area – look at the topography.
