Looking at how the children of Isreal behaved, it can be seen that they were antiGod aka atheists.

And they were atheists even lomg before the word atheist/atheism was formed.

Looking at how they behaved you can see that they behaved exactly like the atheists we see today.

Eg they denied God openly and refused to acknowledged Him inspite of everything He specially did for them and only them.

They would have even denied His Works and the wonders and miracles He did for them, just like atheist deny spirit, if not that the miracles and wonders were so great and noticeable that the world stands as witnesses against them if they denied it.
