The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by Enemyofpeace: 11:21pm On Apr 22 |
This is purely history. Read with an Open mind. In the very beginning, there was only one Christian World, the Catholic Church until.... 1. MARTIN LUTHER AND THE BEGINNING OF PROTESTANTISM. In the year 1517 AD, the Reverend Martin Luther, a former Catholic priest rose up against the Catholic Church alleging immorality within the ranks of the clergy. He taught that man if he had faith could be saved despite his wickedness and that good works were of no consequences. By 1520, he had arrived at the conclusion that every baptized Christian was a priest, that Rome was Babylon, that the pope was Anti-Christ, that priests should be allowed to marry, and that divorce was lawful. He founded a new Church that bore his own name; the Lutheran Church or the Church of Luther. As the protestant Reformation developed in Germany, it broke into several other factions In Switzerland, for example, a fiction named Reformed Christianity developed following the teachings of two men Ulrich Zwingli ind John Calvin both who emphasized the doctrine of Predestination that some are pre ordained to eternal life and others to eternal damnation. 2. THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH These teachings got to Scotland in 1560 through the activities of a former Catholic who went by the name John Knox! There it took the name the Presbyterian Church. From the same Switzerland came another group- the Anabaptist which had developed in 1521 following the ideas of Petr Chelcicky the Bohemian. 3.MENNONITES In 1536, an Anabaptist group broke away to follow another leader, a former Catholic Priest named Menno Simmons from where the Church took the name Mennonites. Later in 1693, Jacob Amman, a Mennonite elder led a revolt against the Mennonite Church resulting in the formation of a new Church that bore his name even to this day: the Amish Church. 4. BAPTIST CHURCH In 1609, a new Church by the name Baptist Church started in Amsterdam based on the preaching of the English separatist John Smyth. 5. ANGLICANS Along the same line of opposition to the Catholic Church came the Anglican Church which started in 1533 AD when the Catholic Church refused to grant England's King Henry VIII the dissolution of his marriage. This Church became the Episcopal Church when it got to the United States of America in 1789. 6. AFRICAN CHURCH In Nigeria, a schism within the same Anglican Church gave birth to the African Church. 6. METHODIST CHURCH Early in the 1740s, a group of Anglicans parted ways with their Church to start another Church which took the name the Methodist Church. This group followed the teachings of John Wesley and his brother Charles. 7. Disciples of Jesus In the late 1800s, an attempt to return to what was regarded Primitive Christianity led to the formation of a new movement called the Disciples of Jesus by Thomas Campbell, his son Alexander and Barton W. Stone all former Presbyterian ministers from Ireland. 8. CHURCH OF CHRIST About the year 1906, a disagreement over the scriptural authorization for organized mission societies and the use or otherwise of musical instruments in worship, among other irreconcilable differences led to the separation from the Disciples of Jesus of a group which later identified itself as The Church of Christ. 9. JEHOVAH WITNESS In the 1870s came the Jehovah Witnesses, a group which grew out of the Bible Student Movement originated by Charles Taze Russel who also pioneered the formation of the Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society. The group owes its doctrinal development to a man named Joseph Franklin Rutherfold. 10. THE NEW PENTECOSTAL CHURCHES Every man believes that he is being guided by the Holy Spirit and plenty Churches sprang up. The 1960s saw the emergence of a new group of highly fragmented preachers called the Pentecostals who saw nothing good in the earlier protestant factions. THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AS THE ENEMY 😂 Though individually, these groups, with their two-pronged gospel that centers on miracles and material possession, are never in agreement, yet collectively they hold the Catholic Church as a common enemy that must be destroyed at all cost and so much energy and resources have been committed to ensure the achievement of this set goal. This includes not only the massive use of both the print and the electronic media, but also the organization of special religious programs, out- reaches as well as door-to-door preaching, all directed at bringing down the Catholic Church but to no avail. Yet..., The opponents of the Catholic Church have never been able to deem the light of the Church, for the Church of Jesus Christ continues to march on, century after century, without distraction despite the human failings of her leaders and the flock. Upon you Peter..... NB: Before you come to attack me, remember that is is purely history. #FADA_OCHENDO #FACEBOOK_PARISH Copied 1 Like |

Enemyofpeace: In the beginning Rome as a nation stood against the disciples of Christ and all of them suffered greatly in the hands of Roman Emperors in fact Apostle Paul was beheaded by a Roman Emperor. Politicians often seek means to expand their territory by all means so when Constantine a Roman Emperor discovered that he could use the Apostates (former members of the church) to strengthen his government he invited them and formed a council this council are the ones who started the Roman Catholic Church but it wasn't easy for them because the real disciples (Christians) knew these ones aren't really interested in what Jesus taught they're only yearning for positions. 3John 1:9-10 So these Apostates started instigating the Roman Emperor against the real Christians claiming they're against the Christ and since the Emperor's main objective is politics while true Christians don't practice politics he gave the apostates all the support they needed to wipe out the true Christians. That was how the Catholic Church became the prominent religion people knew back then as Christians. The real disciples of Christ don't engage in politics or military services because their leader commanded them to be harmless as dove {Matthew 10:16} which will be extremely impossible for politicians who only want the backing of men! Matthew 19:26 If you are open minded you will notice that the Catholic Church has nothing to say or do when members of their church are fighting against their fellow worshipers in other lands, that's totally unchristian because Jesus commanded his own disciples to have love among themselves just as he love them {John 13:34-35} meaning that it's better for them to lay down their lives in behalf of their fellow believers than to be the ones killing their brothers in the faith. So my friend the Catholic Church is the religion that promoted what the Bible called the Antichrist religion that bears the name of Christ but has nothing to do with his opinion rather they're doing the direct opposite of what he laid down as legacy! 1John 2:18; 2John 1:7 If you want to know more about this Google "the dark ages" you will be shocked to see the atrocities committed by the same Catholic Church in the past which led many to protest against the church becoming PROTESTANTS. 1 Like |

Please go and read history again. The Catholic Church is not the foundation of Christianity. Jesus is the foundation of people who believe in God through him, Jesus. Infact, the Catholic church distorted the teachings of Christ, because now where did Jesus ask us to pray using rosaries or use the name of Mary his mother or pray using saints. brazenwalls:Jesus Christ is famously known to have disavowed religion beginning with the religious leaders of His time and their many religious doctrines and traditions which He condemned as lies that were against Him - Antichrist. That religion was Judaism and is the very same religion your religion of Christianity is modeled upon. The over 47,000 denominations/sects that religion of Christianity now boasts of serve as proof of the many lies its foundation is based upon. The Catholics are not your problem when it comes to your being far from the truth of God; Religion is. |

Kobojunkie: Whoever performs an act of worship is a religionist. Didn't the disciples perform the act of worship? Also if you act according to someone you emulate or a role model, you could be named after that person and his personality. Christians means "Christ-like". Were the disciples not christ like? 1 Like |

colossus91:Tithing as practiced by those of the religion of Christianity comes specifically from the doctrines and traditions formulated by their Mogs and Pastors, who don't even accept Scriptural stances on pretty much anything. The beliefs held by those of the religion are entirely disconnected from those developed in Scripture. |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by Kobojunkie: 6:24pm On Apr 29 |
FatherCHRISTMAS:Act of worship? All the disciples did was obey the contract/agreement/Law given to them by Jesus Christ, the Constitutional Law of the Kingdom of God for which He granted them citizenship. Does abiding by the Law of the country you hold citizenship in make you a religionist? 2. If I sign a phone contract with AT&T and I act according to the terms and conditions of the contract, does not make me AT&T-like? Come on! The people who gave them the label, Christians, were pagans who didn't like their guts as is evidenced by the fact that the same are recorded to have chased after and killed many of them. Why should those who hate me get to decide what I should be called? Do you like being called a nigger by a bunch of racists? |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by FatherCHRISTMAS: 6:42pm On Apr 29 |
Kobojunkie: 1.Being a disciple and being a country are nt the same. And in the context of the discussion the comparison doesn't fit in But then again, if you were brought up in Nigeria and follow/abide by Nigeria's laws... You will be called a Nigerian. If you follow Christ, why can't you be called Nigerian? 2. Well me and my friends call each other nigga and smile about it. I guess it's the effect of listening to too much G Unit, 50 cent, RedMan, Nas and 2pac 1 Like |

FatherCHRISTMAS:That is actually what you want to believe instead. You have been given this picture by religionists that it is nothing of the sort and so you can't seem to wrap your mind around the facts of things here. But the fact is it is pretty much the same deal you cut as a citizen of a Nation that you cut with Jesus Christ. 2. You would be called a Nigerian because Nigeria is the name that the Constitution says the country goes by, is it not? Why should I be called a Christian when the Kingdom of God is not called anything of that sort? 3. If a bunch of white men came along and called you all the same name, I bet you would all be fuming in the mouth then, right? |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by FatherChrismas: 8:06pm On Apr 29 |
Kobojunkie: Don't get it twisted, this is not about religionist, this is about language, terminologies and facts. Answering your 1,2 You failed to realize you are now arguing against yourself If you go through the posts About the number 3, it doesn't apply to the logic of the argument but then again let's keep it broad. Muslims can call you a Christian in an offensive manner. Traditionalists can call you a Christian in an offensive manner. It all depends on the countenance and context. The same thing applies to Eminem calling 50cent "nigga" in the studio and still laugh about it. Life isn't that hard |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by Kobojunkie: 8:11pm On Apr 29 |
FatherChrismas:1. There is absolutely nothing in the language or terminologies and facts that would lead you to conclude any such. 2. I disagree! 3. Again, you can choose to explain it to yourself that way, I guess. For me, once a term was meant as an insult from the start, it will always be so. |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by FatherChrismas: 8:26pm On Apr 29 |
Kobojunkie:The bolded is your own words Kobojunkie: According to Biblical tradition and the First Council of Nicaea, (325)convened by the emperor Constantine, Christians are followers of Christ. Have you written your own tradition or setup your own Ecumenical |

Ubenedictus: The bold definitely true. |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by Kobojunkie: 8:57pm On Apr 29 |
FatherChrismas:I don't follow! If the agreement by which the country itself was established indicates that the Name the people chose to go by is "Nigeria" how does that compare to the case where Jesus Christ, the one whose nation His followers are a part of, never chose the term "Christian" or even agreed upon it? 2. There is no biblical tradition of the sort which you claim. Religious traditions are not biblical or sanctioned by Scripture. The name "Christians" was chosen by the community of Roman bishops in establishing what was their state religion, a mostly political movement, and that is that. Jesus Christ, who instead condemned the involvement of non-Israelites was completely ignored. |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by FatherChrismas: 9:25pm On Apr 29 |
Kobojunkie: Using a country to draw a comparison is out of context in this argument. And I notice you are trying to drag the discussion to your territory of equating an immobile factor (a country) with a mobile factor (Christ). 1. You failed to answer my question "Have you written your own tradition or setup your own Ecumenical"... Because that's the way you can determine who ought to be called a Christian and who ought not be called any name just like a "headless crew". A headless crew without a name, is that what your want 2. This is the meaning of "biblical tradition" the body of beliefs accepted by a society that gives it continuity with past generations and unity within itself and the process by which these beliefs are transmitted. Do you understand now? |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by Kobojunkie: 9:35pm On Apr 29 |
FatherChrismas:1. The Kingdom of God is a country complete with its own leaders and Constitutional Law. So how can the comparison be considered out of context? 2. You are not making sense of any kind still. The term Christian has nothing to do with Jesus Christ or the person who follows Jesus Christ. The Law put down by Jesus Christ — the National Constitution of the Kingdom of God — does not include any such tradition and as such it is not of Him or me, a follower of His. 3. Again, these so-called biblical traditions have no foundation in Scripture particularly in the Law as set down by Jesus Christ, the one who is ruler and King in the Kingdom of God, the Nation to which those who belong to Him are recruited into. |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by FatherChrismas: 9:41pm On Apr 29 |
Who are the leaders of God's country? What is the name of the constitutional law? Kobojunkie: Who are the leaders of God's country? What is the name of the constitutional law? Kobojunkie: What name should we call people who follow Christ? Kobojunkie: Omo so Jesus don dey do recruitment What name can we call those people who have been recruited |

Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by FatherChrismas: 10:00pm On Apr 29 |
Kobojunkie:Well let me just make it brief. The new testament was documented in Greek. That's the manuscript alright. The names christ followers are called comes from the he Greek word Χριστιανός (Christianos), meaning "follower of Christ", comes from Χριστός (Christos), meaning "anointed one", |
Re: The Churches That Broke Away From The Catholic Church. by Kobojunkie: 10:03pm On Apr 29 |
FatherChrismas:It doesn't matter what they were called by others. What matters is instead what name they agreed upon or were given by their ruler. And If you read through the Gospels, none of what you wrote applies. |

FatherChrismas:Stop deceiving yourself with that bullsheet claim made by the religious who like to pretend they know more than want is written. 2. So, because the authors did not write in the English language that should then mean the English translations cannot hold the same information? Come on now... you cannot be that dense, can you? |
