Slytiger:Brilliant. It's impressive that you dug the video up stating the FACTS. https://punchng.com/old-money-10-super-rich-men-of-independence-era/ The article sbove NEVER indicated that Louise was a billionaire according to the gross misinformation from the OP. All the rich folks from Candido DaRocha of Lagos Island but originally an Ijesa man whose family returned in the 1800s from Bahia in Brazil, to Alhassan Dantata of Kano, to Louise, were all Pounds millionaires. The Punch article writer did indicate that in today's value, the millions were worth billions today. Alhaji Alhassan Dantata of Kano was actually the richest man in Nigeria as of the time he passed on in 1955 in Kano. In any event, the man who is the subject matter of this thread was NEVER a billionaire but a millionaire, and Frederick Forsythe indicated in his book that I read (which was published during the Nigerian Civil War) that Louise Ojukwu made his first millions from buying land from the indigenes of Iruland (or Victoria Island) and then reselling the lands to the British Colonialists who purchased it from him. Most of those peddling and rehashing the misleading information for some years now (on several Ibo-owned online platforms) about the Rolls Royce are primarily his Ibo kinsmen and other unsuspecting younger folks of other ethnicities who read these fictitious histories online and offline. |
