Instead of building Lagos-Calabar highway with N15 trillion, the same amount can be invested in the power sector to give Nigerians 24-hour light. I am arguing with someone who says that the money is better spent on the highway because Nigeria cannot achieve 24-hour electricity until like 100 years time. At least millions of people will be taken out of darkness with N15 trillion. 1 Like 1 Share |

If it is well utilized, it can give more than half of the country 24/7 electricity. The geometric at Aba is about $800 million, if you factor economy of scale, $12.5 billion can do probably 15 geometric. Each one per state! doncartel: 2 Likes |

That amount can build 3 steel plants, 5 deep sea ports , 3 hydro electric power projects, 1 silicon wafer plant, 3 nuclear power stations. Nigeria should be wise, this is definitely the last opportunity to get it right 2 Likes |

doncartel:Firstly no it can't... But can improve power a lot But the truth is Power is not an issue right now Most Nigerians think like this I don't know who messed with our educational system 90% of Nigerians who wants and can afford 24 hours electricity already have it Then you say for industry... For an industry it's cheaper to power your own gen via CNG than use power from national grid ( my factory is an example) What we need is 1) create an industrial layout, pipe gas to that layout so any body can tap the gas supply and power their factory But most importantly what businesses need right now is not power yes I own a factory and power is not and has never been an issue 1) access to credit at a reasonable interest is the key thing most business need right now 2) effect regulations and certification... If you want to export your goods the process to get certificate of export can make you give up The number of irrelevant tax and lavies 3) access to university research on your choose field 6 Likes |

The hasty approval of the Lagos-Calabar road is purposefully to create a conduit pipe for 2027 election. Only those who are conversant with Tinubu and Chagoury criminal business enterprise will know this. 4 Likes |

doncartel: No it can't. Neither would it give millions of people light The truth of the matter is Nigerians are not paying a cost reflective tarrif for power, which is why we don't have light 24/7. Anyway, we need something like 10 billion dollars every year for at least 10 years before we see light for everyone or 13 trillion naira yearly |

Re: Can N15 Trillion Give Nigeria 24-hour Electricity by nedu666: 5:01am On May 05 |
MEEVEET: What do you mean by 90% of Nigerians who want and can afford electricity have it. Are there Nigerians that prefer darkness or you are meant to say the 1% who pay special rate have light the rest of Nigerians can go to hell You said power is not an issue for an industry in other words every person who wants to establish a factory should generate their light. Is that the way developed and industrialised nations like China did it. You forget we have both large, medium and small scale manufacturing outfit. To even say access to credit, research in your field is more important than power makes me wonder if at all you own a factory. A nation that did not provide power is what you expect to provide cheap credit and research 7 Likes |

nedu666:There is no how u want constant power n your power bill would be below 150k monthly... Unless government subsidies it which we can't afford now ... And yes 98% of people who don't have 24 hours electricity can't afford it Power is not an issue for an industry really, if we had a adequate gas pipeline network it CNG... It would be far cheaper for business to generate their own power than buy power from nation grids numbers don't lie If you want the maths I can do it And yes ooh if you can set up s factory, setting up a generator unit won't be the issue Forget what you used to know Name a business that's better to be ran with national grid power than generator. LandMann:Do you have any maths to show that power from national grid would be cheaper than using CNG gas generator? Or you just assumed based on what you think you know When someone makes a statement google 1kg of CNG cost 250 and can give you 14 kWh... On the national grid that would cost u 3500 for band A... Or 2000 for the rest bands What we need is CNG gas pipelines to industrial layouts 2 Likes |

Re: Can N15 Trillion Give Nigeria 24-hour Electricity by LandMann: 12:15pm On May 05 |
MEEVEET: Typical government propaganda zombié way of thinking. You must be smarter than those running the economies of USA, UK, Canada, Russia, China and Iran where they enjoy 24/7 electricity and manufacturing firms rely on large scale distributed power supply from government instead of setting up individual CNG powered generators to run their manufacturing. Use your mathematics skill to show that it'd be more efficient for those countries to use CNG powered generators. Your government will loot the taxes and oil revenue they generate from Nigerians. Your government will divert funds to white elephant projects so they can loot the funds. Instead of calling your government to order you'll come online to defend rubbish and mislead people with useless narratives. |
Re: Can N15 Trillion Give Nigeria 24-hour Electricity by MEEVEET: 12:34pm On May 05 |
LandMann:Most big manufacturing companies prefer to produce their own power in USA n the rest Government just impose them to the national grid in other to subsidies it for the citizens Not many countries allow citizens to use generator at will Not many people can drill boreholes too Is boreholes not cheaper than paying water bills? Most countries would tax u extra if you do your own boreholes or produce your own power 2 Likes |

Re: Can N15 Trillion Give Nigeria 24-hour Electricity by MEEVEET: 12:53pm On May 05 |
LandMann:Firstly I am too big to be government propaganda machine I have degrees in developmental economics and a degree in Mechanical engineering so I am more than equipped for this discussion more than you think You have not disproved anything I said right now as not being fact You are just wallowing in your ignorance thinking you know It's cheaper to privately produce your own power if you have gas... There is a reason Gas and not electricity was listed as the cause of one of the industrial revolution Facts are facts numbers don't lie You are the one who know nothing 2 Likes |
Re: Can N15 Trillion Give Nigeria 24-hour Electricity by LandMann: 1:24pm On May 05 |
MEEVEET: You have degrees in developmental economics yet you argue that it is better for everyone to generate their electricity using CNG because CNG is cheap today. 1. You believe that everyone can afford the initial cost of the generator. 2. You assume that the maintenance/repair/replacement of the generator will cost zero naira 3. You assume that there would be zero noise pollution and other environmental hazards. 4. You assume that the generators can work for extended periods of time (days) without the need to shut it down to avoid wear and tear or for maintenance purposes. 5. Worst of all you assume that CNG will always remain cheap or at N250 per kg just as LPG has remained at N200 since its use started in Nigeria. Your argument is based on the above 5 assumptions that can be described as completely faulty assumptions because they can never hold true. Someone who studied developmental economics will know this or take such consideration into account when presenting their argument, unless they purchased their certificate from a Cybercafé. The problem with supporting evil government policies is that you can be intelligent and extremely stupid at the same time without knowing it. Your so-called facts have no legs to stand on. Show me countries that have successfully implemented your so-called facts before bleating around the thread to praise yourself. Remember government propaganda agents on nairaland are mostly stupid and think upside down 4 Likes |
Re: Can N15 Trillion Give Nigeria 24-hour Electricity by MEEVEET: 1:35pm On May 05 |
LandMann:Obviously you have difficulty comprehending basic English statements But 1) anyone who can't afford generator cant obviously afford to pay for 24 hours light... That's a known fact But I was specifically talking about businesses.. But yeah same apply the numbers don't know 2) maintenance of generator, plus gas supplies cost accounted for its still cheaper than national grid electricity in nigeria 100% 3) notice pollution from gas power generators are very negligible and you can always get sound proof ... Most manufacturing machines make for more noise than generators 4) yes gas turbine are designed to work for months none stops... You can always maintain them during public holidays... Even if you get 3 generators it would still be more economical than power grid 5) price of 250 is not the issue but but ratio of price... If CNG price goes up obviously price of national grid electricity goes up too na... 70% of the national grid electricity are produced from CNG also... So what exactly is your point Is price of electricity static? I won't be caught dead supporting APC if anything you are closer to their policy than me Basic problem with Africa is you want to do what the West is doing now... Not what they did they they didn't have constant electricity There were gas pipeline to homes and industrial areas before constant electricity was a thing... I'm sure u didn't know that 1 Like |

MEEVEET: You're a certified government propaganda agent. Only a konk government zombié or a heartless human being will make the same submissions you have been making. On this thread you claimed that power/electricity is not a priority for Nigeria. As in! You mean you don't know that productivity is very low across Nigeria because of lack of constant electricity? Again, you submitted that those who need constant electricity in Nigeria can already afford it and are already getting it... This group of persons you refer to cannot be more than 2% of Nigeria's population because it's only the extremely wealthy that can afford or are already getting 24/7 electricity in Nigeria. In your heart of hearts the remaining 98% can go kill themselves right? Only a certified government zombié or heartless Nigerian politician thinks this way Again, you are also submitting that it's better for ALL businesses and individuals to switch to private electricity generation because it's cheaper, and I'm asking you, show one developed country on this earth that has practiced what you are suggesting. If you can't find any then it's because your suggestion is very foolish and impracticable. 1 Like |
