The harsh fact is that almost all our neighbours are paying way above N1000.

Nigeria does not have the cash to keep fuel forever cheap. Make we be honest...this is not about agbado, and even the agbado government is spending trillions to avoid telling themselves the truth.

The painful thing is that if we cut government spending and stop the nasty corruption that is affecting us, the money raised won't be enough to pay for subsides long term. Also, the amount we earn from crude...80% of our earnings...is not enough.

Either we face the truth...or we keep throwing money down a bottomless pit.

We have been told repeatedly since the 1980's...we no wan hear.
what are you saying in essence? Yes if we agree for a 1500 per litre will there ever be a time we will stop suffering to buy because of scarcity? If no then there is no benefit of fuel subsidy removal on us rather it has increased the suffering of the masses and enriched the government more.

it's the new reality whether u agree or not, atleast until we have a working refinery .
and will still be the reality after the refineries begin, thanks to your stoopid president who swiftly made your currency tissue paper. Petrol costs more to refine than diesel, so if Dangote is selling diesel at the rate of 1000 for 1million litre orders, and there is rousing applause, how much do you reckon he will sell petrol that costs more to refine?

Well, maybe if they pay him subsidy sha.

As long your country's currency is worthless, be prepared for this new reality

You are just a mush room analyst!

But I will never be tired of educating your likes.

It does not make any economic sense to compare expenditure on any commodity in Nigeria with that of any other country, without indexing it on the levels of income.

Why can’t you convert the minimum wage in Nigeria to dollars and compare with that of America where the average price of petrol is between $3 and $4.

If a person earning minimum wage in Nigeria is to buy all things at the international equivalent rate ,will s/he buy more or less things than those of the American minimum wage earner?

Where income levels can not be reasonably matched ,government interventions become inevitable,to avoid the type of economic turmoil Nigeria is currently facing as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

The government might even end up paying more than the fuel subsidy ,interms of higher wage demands ,short and long term palliatives plus spending more in combating the resultant social insecurity and poverty.

The government does not have money for subsidy but has money for defending the Naira against dollar?

So far the government have spent more on the aftermath effects of fuel subsidy removal than the cost of the subsidy itself!!

Nothing new, this was 49 years ago. una go curse tinubu tire. Nigeria can't work. The elites have high jacked it since independent thereby recruiting their friends, friends of friends, families, friends of families, replacing them with friends, concubines, bastards, friends of concubines, grand children, cousins and so on and the circle continues. As long as the present form of government is used in Nigeria, no president, or the one to be can ever repair it. None. To me, regional government is much better and competitive.

By the way, mega stations are way cheaper, and most times, more than independent marketers own in the range of 100 and above per liter, and yet you are shortchanged. That's why you see those queues.

Average minimum wage per hour in America is $14. So an average American on minimum wage is spending less than half of an hour pay to buy a gallon of patrol, In Nigeria were minimum wage is 30,000 naira one would be spending a whole days pay to buy same 1 litre of petrol. So how does the comparison work oga?

Thanks Jo. The ediot comparing Nigeria with Washington is a fuulish fuul

Have those in charge of the nation ever come out clean about the way forward??!

I have said it time and again that the Petroleum sector is long overdue for total deregulation.

But, when you fail to be transparent with leadership, there can be no headway.

These theories and realities we talk about here are alien noise to the average Nigerian citizen out there.

Let your leaders come out clean, they refused.

Same thing with Power supply and the national currency.
