Please I need help, I want to start processing for my visa to Austria for a bachelor's degree and one document needed for authentication is my waec certificate, but I just noticed a mistake on my waec certificate date of birth, it should be 1994 but it's written 1993.

Please how can I ratify this issue to not affect me in my visa process. Have anyone had similar case before and how was it ratified. I need help on this, very urgent.

I did some research, I was advised to go to court and swear affidavit and attach it to my waec certificate, that's what am going to do.

That's the issue. A lot of persons reduce their age. You will see a lady of 25-29 years old, they will be claiming 21 and 23. Next year ask them of their age again, they will still remain 21 and 23. The follow year ask again how old they are, they will still mention 21 and 23. This makes me feel if these people's age don't ever increase.

I understand people falsify their age due to the stereotype of the labour market always wanting between 20-25 years. Even though they do that, that's not enough to claim false age.

Back in the days, I wanted to reduce my age by 3. But I thought about it and saw it's a waste of time. Even if one reduces his or her age, hiring companies will still end up writing not older than 25 years old in their jobs adverts.

Instead of reducing ones age so as not to outgrown the age bracket for job adverts, while not acquire skills to make up for that gap? That's the best thing everyone should do, order than reducing their age just to fit in.

During NYSC, you will see old men and women serving, that's because most reduced their age. People should stop reducing their age because it doesn't change anything. Even after graduating, loads of them will still stay at home and outgrow that young age bracket hiring companies usually clamour for (not older than 25 years).

The best thing to do right now is to stay true to one's actual age and just do your thing.
