Governor Sylva

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), has described the power struggle between President Goodluck Jonathan and the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on one hand, and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, on the other, as an act of war against the people of the state and by extension, Nigerians.
The party has also signified interest in having the embattled governor on its side for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
In a press release signed by the party’s National Secretary, Engr. Buba Galadima, and made available to The Nation, the party warned President Jonathan to stop militarizing states where elections are to be conducted.
The party stated that: “no matter how much they try, the PDP and the Presidency cannot succeed in portraying to Nigerians and the World, that what is going on in the Bayelsa governorship primary is an internal affairs of the party.’’
It added that the Bayelsa conundrum is an infringement on fundamental rights of a citizen.

Lol! CPC, the "anti-corruption" party, my foot!

What sort of party will accept a man that is accused of drug use, a shabby under performer, an alleged security threat, corrupt to the hilt to the extent of being dumped by his own party?

@Post: If it clicks through, and Sylva bulldoze his way through, that will be a bigger slap on Jonathan's face - In fact a slap of the century. How I wish it works out success for CPC, APGA or ANPP.

Naija Politics - pass me the pop-corn.

Was it not thesame Bayelsan "CPC "that ditch Buhari and quickly endose GEJ, even with neatly cooked "magic numbers?. . . we are yet to see Boko Haram pointing Buhari as their sponsor.

Nest of killers.

Any party that takes Sylva on board is no better than Sylva. It would be better for CPC to keep lying to Nigeria about their fake "anti-corruption" stance than to take on a loser like Sylva.

CPC surely has bigger problems to resolve than going after a corrupt, failed reject to represent them in Bayelsa's election; it is the very same misplacement of priorities and an accomapying litany of catastrophic misjudgements that will see the gross embarrassment of CPC, a national political party, getting evicted from their headquarters in Abuja. How can a political party be so badly run that it gets thrown out of its own headquarters? What a disgrace! But hardly surprising when their poverty stricken decisions are put in perspective. embarassed

The leadership crisis rocking the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has taken a new turn, as the factional leader and Protem chairman of the party, Senator Rufai Hanga, has moved to recover his property that houses CPC’s national secretariat in Abuja.

According to the eviction notice signed by Hanga, his agents would be visiting the party headquarters on December 27 to inspect the property as stipulated in the contractual agreement to ensure that the property is restored to “proper state”.

The notice gave CPC until December 31 to move out of the building or face forceful eviction.

The eviction threat came on the heels of the closure of the CPC’s Presidential Campaign Office located at Wuse II in Abuja following similar request by another chieftain of the party, Alhaji Sule Hamman, to reclaim his property.

The move by Hanga is seen as having a lot to do with the post-election leadership tussle that has pitted the former senator from Kano State against the present leadership of the party.

The building, a two-storey complex located at Plot 1132, Festus Okotie Eboh Crescent, Utako District in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, was acquired by the CPC under a two-year lease agreement for N30 million.

Hanga’s quit notice addressed to the CPC Director of Administration, was delivered last Friday by the Deputy Chairman (South-east) and close confidant of the senator, Mr. Ifeanyi Ozigbo.

In the tenancy agreement for the property, CPC is expected to notify the owner of its intention to retain the building three months to the expiration of the lease period.

However, Hanga said the party’s leadership did not comply with the terms of the agreement, hence he had decided to take appropriate steps to recover his property.

The protem chairman and his group had gone to court to challenge the authenticity of the national officers of the party under the chairmanship of Prince Tony Momoh on the ground that the convention that produced the leaders was illegally held.

Judgment in the case filed against the Momoh-led National Executive Council of CPC has been fixed for November 21.

However, THISDAY gathered that due to the bad blood generated by the leadership tussle and the freezing of the CPC account in three banks, the party was not able to meet up the requirement for the continued use of the party office.

@Beaf, is PDP not the largest dump site for community rejects and social perverts in Nigeria? where were you when Odili, Udenwa and Orji contested under the platform of PDP? Which party produced Ibori, Diepriye and GEJ?

Lol! We can always expect such gutter behaviour from the followers of gutter leaders who encourage the killing of youth corpers after losing elections.

The gospel of 9ja, chapter 5, verse 1:
And so it was was that gutter, begetteth gutter; scum, begetteth scum and agbero begetteth agbero. Like leader, like follower. grin

Shame.

Hypocrisy, sir! grin
You aren't making any sense, because all parties consist of ex-PDP members. If PDP is that bad, why the rush for its rejects?

It is the crass hypocrisy of CPC on display here, scrambling for a PDP "reject and social pervert," while preaching a hypocritical "anti-corruption" stance to the ignorant and the gullible.

Isiewu, pork, pepper soup, BEAF the Preacher

This "gospel" you are quoting, is it in Nigeria's Constitution or in PDP constitution that party officials implement only "verses" that help them? Abi is it part of the action document that you and Oga is using to deplete and embezzle the national treasury?

Answer me PDP Preacher in the wilderness of madness.

Lol! Choice bride prices for an ugly ducking!

Oil is a curse, in the past, those from oil producing states found that the choice governor was way beyond theirs to make. Efri bodi de shuk maut put! So we have ended up with the Ibori's, Odili's, Sylva's and other catastrophe's. We thank God that very strong action has been taken in Bayelsa to to stop that tide; for the first time in Nigeria's history, a sitting governor has been disqualified from further propagating his wretched performance.

Thank God that your state doesn't have oil, it ain't a joyful ride.

The Verdict according to Olusegun Adeniyi. Email,olusegun.adeniyi@thisdaylive.com

When, late in 2006 President Olusegun Obasanjo anointed then Katsina State Governor, the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate and his Bayelsa counterpart, Dr Goodluck Jonathan as his running mate, he believed that also gave him the liberty to pick the PDP gubernatorial candidates for the two states. In Bayelsa State, he simply gave the ticket to his Special Adviser on Petroleum Affairs, Dr Edmund Dakouru (an erstwhile NNPC Group Managing Director who is now a traditional ruler) who in turn gave the ticket to his Special Assistant, Mr Timipre Sylva. In Katsina, Obasanjo met a resistance.
