Buhari had his base and cult following. ACN, CPC, nPDP and ANPP political alliance helped him.

Tinubu had his base and political alliances. Even though he lost his Lagos base, the political alliance with the North and Rivers was still able to help him.

Kwankaso had the Kano base that won him Kano.

Atiku had the PDP base because it had always been a political party whether he was the popular candidate or not.

Obi had a base, the shortest we have ever seen towards an election and still came third. He also has a strong following. It is something to worry about because along the line, he will become stronger. Going by the election result, this President did not win by majority vote and adding PDP + LP votes could easily have taken him out.
This is why the APC is not relenting on attacking Obi's personality and demarketing him. It is dangerous to have a serious alternative and they would prefer to have a weak opposition than one people naturally admire.
