Hi Siena, the 1.8T in the previous thread was an error its a 20V 1.8 ADR alright I have a 99 vw passat 1.8 20V ADR MT. Got it used from Germany in 2010 @ 83km been used by My wife. Have been driving like a dream till I had this sudden overheating issue which managed to clear after replacing the radiator caps. I was quite careful about oil spec and used Mobil 1 but noticed that it got dried up after a short interval. Later changed to Mobil 20w50 xhp and was fairly ok though not like the initial machine. I later got Total's 15w50 made to vw 500 & performance improved I've been battling with hard starts in the morning & had 'injector' plug cables changed as they were accused of loss of contact; situation became better but hard cold starts persist Was recently out of town when I had a distress call from my wife that the there's some noise from the rear wheels and asked her to have it checked: the workshop said they had to grease the hub bearings & all noise stopped After about 1 week of this bearing issue, I've been confronted with a permanent Airbag light on the dash; it beeps 3times and keeps blinking (!) after driving for about 10mins and it comes with ABS lights. Could you be kind enough to decipher these issues & what they may be pointing as its just done about 15000km with me and its performance and handling has been better than all my previous cars including some brand new japanese official cars. Do I need a VAG.com diagnostic or just anyone will do? Thanx a bunch |

GRAND-M: The first thing I'll do in such instances is have a scan carried out. When you turn on the ignition, there should be a "key" symbol showing on your dash. Is it flashing? Because if yes, then you have immobiliser issues. Faults that could stop your car in motion: a) Dead crank position sensor. b) Dead fuel pump. c) Faulty ECU control relay. d) Snapped / slipped timing belt. Please check the "key" symbol on dash as I've suggested above, and have a scan carried out. On no account should you let your mechanic clear the codes, as I'll need to refer to them. You may have to be with him when he pulls these codes. So far, what steps have your mechanics taken to resolve things? |

Hey Siena, Thumbs up for the good job u been doing. You have been great. 1.Audi 2.A6 Quattro 3.2,8L 4.5 speed tiptronic 5.2001 6.US Please help me out, my temperature gauge goes beyond the half way mark after about 10 minutes of drive from start of engine(in light traffic that eases up in less than 10 minues).I've had mechanics check it, but they all just keep guessing, telling me to either CHANGE or remove my thermostat. I also think maybe my engine fan might be weak cos anytime the car goes idle, the guage goes shifts to the high side. Water level reduces a little. Also, please specify the type of coolant to be used cos the coolant was leaked out during first repair and was only replaced with just water. Thanks alot in advance. Manf |

01) Audi. 02) A1. 03) 4,1.4L Turbo 122CV . 04 6-Speed Manual. 05) 2011. 06) German 07) Normal. ISSUE: Black smoke from exhaust in cool start. Hi , I got an Audi a1 1.4 turbo 122horse power and there is black smoke from the exhaust system during the first start in cool. No matters what time I turn the car on, the black smoke will be from exhaust system in the first start of the day. It always happens. I do not recall any day that this issue is not there. A friend of mine who also has an Audi A1 told me that Audi Dealer has already replaced the valves, injectors as well but the problem is still there. She detected the issue when her car has just 50km of new. It seems like the Audi dealer does not know what to do and they just keep saying that black smoke is normal because the car has a complex system to start the engine faster by injecting more fuel to the engine during first start in cool and everything about black smoke is a myth. My car is new it just have 11,500 miles. The last service maintenance was made 5,000 miles ago. Audi dealer has not replaced anything on my car. My friend also has her car in the dealer and the problem is still there. It's been almost 2 months with this issue unfixed. My car feels good when I drive it, although I am under the impression that fuel consumption is quite high but I may be wrong or getting crazy on this. The car does not have any modification, it has not been altered, everything is from stock and warranty ongoing. What do you think ? What are the consequences if I continue with this issue? Help! They say that the car is injecting additional fuel in order to have better start and it depends on atmospheric conditions. I've seen that other Audi A1 do not throw black smoke from exhaust system. What do you think ? Help ASAP! |

Dear Siena, I have a VW passat with the following details: 01) VW 02) Passat 03) 2.0 turbo petrol 04) 6 speed automatic 05) 2007 model 06) milage 92000 I am experiencing the following problems: 1. The engine starts with the one push of the start button but struggles to stay on as if it does not have enough air. 2. Once in motion there are no issues except for the whisling sound that comes from the front passenger side as you step on the gas pedal. 3. Finally, the AC cools very well when external temps are low but in the heat of the day the cooling is very low. Siena, what do I do to solve this problems. Regards John. |

Sir Siena, I must confess you are a God-sent to me in particular. I have just concluded plans to go into car business - sales, repairs, sourcing for parts for my clients and colleagues alike. Due to my natural love for German autos, I want to start with them - mainly Volkswagen, Audi, Benz etc - and was thinking of linking up with an Auto-professor like you for a "non-financial" partnership! I have found one in you. Please kindly send me your e-mail and possibly other contacts through [khristmarkmbg@yaoo.com].I want a robust 'business relationship' between us. As for helping your fellow men in need, God will bless you in what ever you do! Thanks |

01) Rover 02) 75 03) 2500 04) Auto 05) 2004. 06) EUR i think . 07) 4speed Auto Lots of smoke , seeming to come from behind the wheels / under the bonnet , when checked by me , it seems water mixed with the engine oil or so , The issue is where can i get a reliable mechanic / engine for this particular model Research shows that some use Toyota Mark X engine in replacement, some use Toyota Camry (pencil) to replace but all these seem to be possible in port-harcourt only ? The wipers and the siren working at the same time, nothing done so far has corrected that error when a fuse is removed it stops but so does other electrical functions , the remote wont even work, the central lock stopped functioning too ! Any suggestions based on experience or references as to mechanics will be appreciated |
