Personally to me, Havertz made the best decision. The way the ball dropped and how Ake have already covered Havertz path to goal or dribble, it'll be very difficult for him to make that attempt on goal and if he does, Heavens know say I for insult am.

Best bet was hold the ball up and lay it perfectly for an onrushing player for a curler (or R2). That he did perfectly (he even laid it on Martinelli right feet sef, so that he doesn't need an extra touch). It's up to Martinelli now to execute the shot/curler perfectly, which to me he didn't do perfectly but then he was lucky with the deflection.

I'm still saying it, Martinelli should master that out of the box curler very well. Most wingers nowadays are known for that.
Thank You!!! It was a 5 vs 3 but there was an advantage in that one of us was free.

Something tells me Ramsdale might leave just like Leno and Martinez did if David Raya continues to find Favour in the presence of Arteta as our number 1 for both EPL and UCL

Arsenal 23/24 first 8 games so far: 6 wins, 2 draws, 0 losses. Scored 16, conceded 6.

Arsenal 03/04 invincibles first 8 games: 6 wins, 2 draws, 0 losses. Scored 16, conceded 6.

Identical.

The invincibles’ 9th game of the season was against… Chelsea.

He is always going to leave. And it is not anybody's fault.

Arsenal have won their last three games at Stamford bridge in a row. No team has won four in a row.

Yeah, the same way Raya too would leave if something that bests him in Arteta's opinion comes on board

Spy360:

What I meant by the bolded is that Tomi came in as a left back and Rice was playing on the left. During the second half, Tomi was quite comfortable playing high up the pitch, this was possible because Rice dominated that side of the pitch from midfield to defense.

And let me reiterate that I did not say Rice was poor in that first half. Rather I said his second half was better than his first half performance. There could be several reasons for this, and I have attributed it to the difficulty playing that role.
Tomi was introduced just to combat against Doku who was sent to torment Zinny. When Doku found Tomi was tough, he switched opposite wing to face Ben White.
That was when Arteta sent sent Tomi towards attack to add height to our frontline. It was just tactical switch by Arteta due to Doku running away from his intended duel.

As for your second paragraph, I see you don deh lighten up on your talk. At least lemme accept that one and reach a compromise with you compared to when you were saying "Rice struggled a bit in the first half" or that "Rice didn't get his groove until the 2nd half"

Yeah, the way the ball dropped, that was exactly what I expected. I see some post saying if it was G.Jesus that have such chance, he would have scored.

Lol... I laugh in Swahili grin

Matchday... I just hope the boys turn up oo.

Whenever anyone/everyone is expecting a win against the big boys from us, most of the times we falter.

I just hope this present crop overcome such mental block.

COYG!!!

So na like this Jorginho take bench Partey?

Anyways aside that it's a nice lineup plus I prefer it to Havertz starting in Midfield.

Saka and Martinelli is back. Bench Choke too grin

I am disappointed that Jorg is starting ahead of a healthy Partey. However, I am also thinking Arteta is trying to manage Partey's health because of how integral he is to the team and may have learned his lesson from last season. A healthy Partey will be instrumental in the 2nd half of the season.

Simon Murphy, our Physiotherapist travelled with Partey during this international break and that clues me into how Arteta is choosing to manage his usage this season. If this is the plan, then I "may" give him a benefit of a doubt. However, if it is not, then Arteta is just being Arteta is all I can say.

I just hope that's the plan then cause really, If we want to go all the way we need to be strong second half of the season.

Hopefully, I just pray that's the plan

The 2nd half of consecutive seasons cost us UCL spot and the league because of mismanagement of core players like Partey/ Saka/ Saliba, this is secondary to Arteta's onfield coaching issues. If we can find a way to keep our core healthy going into the 2nd half, particularly the final 3rd of the season, we stand a good chance.

Both teams are playing 4-3-3 formation but I think we have a better base with possession, especially if we plan to hold possession. With Jorg, we can't sit deep. Chelsea have Caicedo/ Enzo/ Galo who are not particularly deep sitters, we should be able to catch them on breaks when they stray.

This one that Ramsdale is not even in the matchday squad.... I hope all is well with him.

I still like him with his genuine passion for the club o.
