Per TechCabal, the company reportedly has ₦2 billion in debt on its balance sheet, which its leadership cannot account for. While the acquisition means new business for Paystack and Piggytech, there could be more liabilities to take on than assets.

Olumide Soyombo quietly making mad money in the start-up space.
Brass is expected to get new leadership as its founders exit, but no announcement has been made to that effect. In the meantime, its new leadership has the task of rebuilding customer trust after a trying few months for the four-year-old startup.

Per TechCabal, the company reportedly has ₦2 billion in debt on its balance sheet, which its leadership cannot account for.

My take on this:
A so-called tech firm that has a reported N2 billion debt on its balance sheet is what Olumide and his team have acquired. Those loses are huge.

My disagreement is you saying Fintech is saturated. In actual fact, when a field is deemed saturated, it is simply because gate crashers are being confrontef with what they did not bargain for due to their being half baked.

Fintech is over saturated that's all. Too many people offering same services that brick and mortar banks are too slow to adopt and transition to. I guess they love their extortionate fees

That’s what you will say while smart businessmen continue to make money. With Nigeria’s population and the high percentage of unbanked Nigerians, the business isn’t saturated, opportunities abound.

Personally, the poster is not entirely wrong. When you say unbanked, i'm trying to wrap my head around this. There is a handful of unbanked Nigerians and trust me anybody migrating from unbanked to banked won't start with piggyvest.

Proudlycanadian:
Brass, a digital bank catering to small businesses, has been acquired by an investment group led by Paystack. Other participants in the acquisition include PiggyVest, Ventures Platform, P1 Ventures, and angel investors Olumide Soyombo and Oo Nwoye. The co-founders of Brass, Sola Akindolu and Emmanuel Okeke, will exit the business. Despite this change, the company’s customers and employees will not be affected, as the product will remain the same. The acquisition provides Paystack and PiggyVest with a foothold in a complementary business domain. However, Brass faces the challenge of rebuilding customer trust after a period of financial difficulty
