*NIGERIA'S NEMESIS: PDP/APC IN 25 YEARS OF TOTAL WASTE AND HUMILIATION.*

As Nigeria's fourth Republic democratic dispensation marks twenty five(25) years today, 29/05/2024, a cursory tour of today's snoring Nigeria and yesterday's sleepy Nigeria is a story of shame, pity, dumbness, outrage, disappointment, fear, uneasiness, tension, suspicion, division, insecurity and suspense.

Two political parties in PDP and APC have (mis)governed Nigeria to a point of disgrace, stupor, indolence, criminality and condescending national ethos.

In twenty five years (1945-1970) *Great Britain* turned around post war England under the able leaderships of Sir Richards, Sir McPherson, Sir Littleton as colonial masters in Nigeria to siphon and transfer wealth from Nigeria to the United kingdom.

In twenty five (25) years (1960-1985, *China* under the able leadership of Chairman Mao Tsetung, transformed China from a young post colonial independent state to a world industrial and technological super power as a first world country and pulled out one billion Chinese out of the poverty line.

In twenty five (25) years (1960-1985) *Singapore* under the able leadership of Prime Minister Li kwang Yu, transformed Singapore from a post independent nation to a highly industrialised technological first world country.

In twenty five (25) years (1948-1977), *Israel* in Prime Ministers Golder Meier, Menachin Bagin, Yikzak Shamir, Yikzak Rabin, Ehud Barack, Shimon Peres, Benjamin Nentayahu turned the newly created nation of Israel from the rubbles of conquest to a world class military, technological and economic superpower and ranked the sixth strongest nation in the work.

In twenty five (25) years (1960-1985) *India* Indira Ghandi down to the current Nerandra Mordi has pulled out one billion Indians out of poverty line, reset India's economy, flown a spaceship to the moon and achieved democratic stability for all round leadership succession inspite of deep ethnic diversities.

In twenty five(25) years, post world war 11 *France* (1965-1990) under the able leadership of President Charles de Gaul and Francois Mitterrand transformed France from a weak country to a superpower country even without solid minerals to boast of but relying on economic exploitations of their colonial solid minerals rich west African States for survival and growing their military industrial complexes to world class levels.

In twenty five (25) years (1965-1990) the Prime Minister of post world war 11 *Italy*, Berlusconi pushed the frontiers of economic recovery through sports to make Italy a global sports super power.

In twenty five (25) years (1980-2005) *Germany* Prime Ministers Helmut Schmidt, Helmut Schol to Olaf Scholz and Angela Merkel built a Germany that is strong economically, militarily and technologically in war tanks manufacturing, deep sea gas engineering and and universal replaceable engines production.

In the above presentation, the names of the leaders are more pronounced and popular than the name of the political parties through which they gained access to power.
Good leadership therefore is personal ethos, discipline, values, convictions, and determinations to affect the lives of the people positively and not of the political party by which you came to power.

*A PEEP INTO NIGERIA'S COLOSSAL CONUNDRUM.*

As it were, Nigeria cannot point to a great leader because Nigeria has not grown into greatness from 1960 to 2024.

In thirty five (35) years (1965-1995) of military interregnum, of Generals Ironsi, Gowon, Murtala, Obasanjo, Buhari, Babangida, Abacha and Abdusalami, Nigeria increased in states creation, Local government creation, criminality, bribery, and corruption, importation and decreased in education, health, production, export, agriculture and industrialization.

In twenty five(25) years (1999-2024) under Presidents Obasanjo, Yar'Adua, Jonathan, Buhari and Tinubu, Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world with 143 million Nigerians thrown into multi dimensional poverty.

In twenty five(25) years (1999-2024) Nigeria's oil production fell from 2.7 million barrels per day to 800 barrels per day due to oil theft and gross mismanagement of Nigeria's oil wealth.

In twenty(25) five years(1999-2024) Nigeria's external debt stock rose from $3 billion USD dollars in 1999 to $18 billion USD Dollars by 2003 before the Paris and London clubs of multilateral bodies cancelled Nigeria's debt with $12 billion USD Dollars down payment portfolio paid.
Nigeria's zero external debt profile was increased again from $12 billion USD Dollars after the tenure of President Jonathan to $48 billion USD Dollars or #77 Trillion naira after the eight years inglorious tenure of President Buhari.

In twenty five (25) years (1999-2024) Nigeria's electricity stock has increased from just 1.8 megawatts of power to only 3.8 megawatts of power after PDP government of 1999 to 2015 spent or wasted $16 billion USD Dollars in energy budget and APC government spent or wasted $12 billion USD Dollars between 2015-2023 on energy.
Nigeria has more pages of power sector reform reports than it has power to distribute to it's citizens.

In twenty five (25) years (1999-2024) Nigeria became the most unsecured country on planet earth, the country with the least life expectance index in the world, the third worst country in Transparency International rating scale on good governance, the worst election management system by the reports of the Election observer teams in Nigeria.

In twenty five(25) years (1999-2024) Nigeria's inflation rate rose from single digit of 9% to 34:28% in 2024 with food inflation standing at 36.6%.

In twenty five(25) years (1999-2024) Nigeria's petrol price rose from 65 kobo per litre to #720 per litre with all four national refineries not working.

In twenty five(25) years (1999-2024) USD dollar was pegged at #82 to $1 USD dollar in 1995 but has skyrocketed to #1,520 to $1 USD dollar in 2024.

In twenty five (25) years 1999-2024) the government of President Buhari printed #22.7 trillion secretly and which cannot be traced to any projects or expenditure items with budget head lines or national assembly approval.

In twenty (25) years(1999-2024) Nigeria was take from full employment to terrible youth unemployment.

In twenty five (25) years (1999-2024) Nigeria has fallen grace to grass, from zenith to exit, from plenty to poverty and from light to darkness.

There are two regimes that plundered Nigeria and brought her to it's present woes:

The military regime from 1965 to 1998 and the democratic government from 1999 to 2024.

We very often hear of the doomed political parties of PDP and APC that brought Nigeria to it's knees but you cannot hear of a leader from any of those two parties that reflected astuteness in good leadership service delivery.

At sixty four years post independence, Nigeria is left to mourn corrupt military intrusion into her politics (1965-1998) and devastating democratic betrayal of the civilians in crass thievery and leadership ineptitude (1999-2024).

Five institutions are responsible for Nigeria's crash:

The military.
The political Parties, (PDP and APC)
The Central Bank.
The NNPCL.
The INEC.

The *military* between 1965 to 1998 held sway and created states and LGA's to favour a section of the country and redrew internal boundaries in angst of civil war victimisation.
Today, the military is being used to abate and acquit fraudulent electioneering processes and manipulated election results in defiance of the people's right of franchise and authority to install legitimate government in Nigeria.

The *Political Parties* of PDP and APC are quite indifferentiable because of the criminal manner politicians cross carpet from one party to the other.

Political Parties are culpable in all forms of election rigging, results manipulations, lack of internal democracy, using state funds to finance party structures and outright stealing of public funds from States coffers and contract over invoicing.
The national assembly that holds the people's power is completely fornicating with the Presidency in no hidden manner for a mess of pottage.

A once revered Judiciary has become the injustice arm of government as our lordships smile to the banks while the people cry to the prisons.

The *Central Bank of Nigeria* has been reduced to a Merchant of Venice instead of an institution of Monetary policy design and implementation.

What ever was achieved by the Banking consolidation of 2003-2007 under the erudite Prof Chukwuma Soludo has been rubbished by the criminal exercebations of the mentally crude practices of the outcome CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele that is being unashamedly dragged through the corridors of the courts to the harbingers of DSS cells.

The *Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)* is a cult of many cauldrons.
Every subsidiary of INEC is primed to steal, to kill and to destroy.

It is not a wonder that in twenty five (25) years (1999-2024) NNPC could not turn around one refinery but spent trillions of naira in criminal oil subsidy payments to it's front companies and cronies of its past and present chief executives.

Oil theft looks good to become one of the functions of NNPC became oil business is done on cash calls and joint venture transactions.

*INEC* is the biggest problem of Nigeria today and the worst thing is that INEC is always headed by university icons in Professors who are supposed to be the doyen of truth, accuracy and high standards but have turned out as criminals in arms with the politicians to truncate proper leadership selection process.

From 2003 to 2023, three university Professors have told lies with national election results that plunged Nigeria into the mess that it is in today.

Imagin Prof Mahmood Yakubu tell Nigerians to go to court if not satisfied with the 2023 election results that he declared inspite of not using IREV real time, online election enabled results rendition platform.

Nigerians having lost hope in PDP, APC and INEC, are looking for alternative forms of government to reinvent a new Nigeria.

The current President of Nigeria does not have the capacity to birth a new Nigeria going by his skewed cabinet appointments and swashbuckling transactional epochal contract awards by fiat and terse executive order.

Nigeria has no political icons in the true sense of it and lacks political parties that can rise above the fray to offer good governance to the people Nigeria.

Nigeria's problem remains lack of good leadership and compromised national institutions mentioned above that unite to install fake leaders by the instrumentality of criminal INEC.

It has been a wasted twenty (25) years from 1999 to 2024 with no dividends of democracy to showcase.

China, India, Brazil, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia were Nigeria's mates at independence in the 1960's but today Nigeria is a foot mat to them in terms achievements, advancements and developments.

May Nigeria's youths stand up to deliver her from PDP and APC in 2027 or else we sink.

God help Nigeria.

Steve Nwabuko.
