Most Nigerians don't know it, only those born before 78' and who were mature enough do.

I believe this was a ill thought legislative bill initiated out of nostalgia for past glories of "when Nigeria worked" I personally resent that notion that things were particularly rosy in the past.
Dat is true. Wen almost everything functions well

' To pass on to our children, A banner without stain' , sounds Utopian to me.....
There is shedding tears of blood and the perpetrators are amongst us, with their children abroad being groomed to come ameliorate their fathers' past sins....!!!

Reason they changed national anthem is because this foolish presido cant recite our national anthem...the only time he went to school was primary school and they were still singing the old one ...that's the only one that fool knows how to sing ... he then forced it on us so he doesn't get called out for not singing our normal national anthem ... selfish bastard ...after he gets kicked out in 2027, we will revert to our normal anthem
I don't know about the previous reasons you wrote o, but I feel the bold may happen 'if' an opposition wins.

No be now wey responsibilities choke I go dey learn national anthem, it remains "arise o campashun" for me even tho I din tire to dey rise πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

I have really tried for Nigeria, what exactly has Nigeria done for me in return

Those old tools we call politicians never consulted Nigerians about changing the anthem, no regards what so ever for the citizens of the country, sharply they changed the anthem within two weeks, for what ever reasi s best known to them

Which kind news be this.

Why won’t they sing it before? They don’t have a choice because that is now our national anthem, everybody must use that at official functions.

God bless Nigeria
Nigeria we hail thee.

Why not go and force them to sing it now! undecided

Zombie way na one way! grin

All of them should hold ground and refuse to sing it. Yeye President with the wrong priorities.

You do understand the change was initiated by a legislative bill and the president had not input other than to sign it. It could have withheld his signature and pushed back but what would be his gain in doing that.
So you believe there wouldn't have been discussions/agreements before discussions/agreements for a bill to gain such swift presentation and passage at both houses and thereafter the President's appoval.

Tinubu is clueless for thinking that this will ameliorate our hunger and pains.

Opeyemi Bamidele introduced the bill. I don't know why Nigerians like pretending when the issue hits the front burner, we are all aware of the romanticism of the past and this one has been done in bad taste and I personally don't like the idea of it.
If they thought the anthem was sufficient they could have put forward a new one rather than reverting to one which was jettisoned in the 70s

He instigated it..what we have in the national assembly are puppets not legislatures...controlled by a puppet master

It's like saying "I love those apples in that applecart", and then someone who wants to please me goes off and takes one without my prodding, I can't be accused of larceny or influence to theft.

Bamidele is one of the leaders in the Senate who have submitted the authority of the NASS to the executive.

Is the President not listening to his legal man How's the AGF able to warn NASS in public but our President cannot withold assent

Why would he, he'll have to give a valid reason.
It suited his own desire so I guess he signed off on something he was in logical agreement with.
