NGO Urges Government to Invest More in Education

De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI) has urged the government to invest more in education to groom children to be responsible citizens.

Chief Chidi Anokwu, International President of DNKI, made this known on Monday during the Northern Directorate 2024 Children's Day celebration at Government Secondary School (GSS) Kantoma in Suleja, Niger State.

According to him, children are the future. Without the children, we have no hope, and without them, there is no future for this nation. The children are our hope and very important to us.

"Government should do more for education. Nigeria as a country is lagging behind, and we should actually improve our facilities and education funding. We are not there yet, but we need to do more,” Anokwu said.

Also speaking, Mr. Oliver Ityobegh, Chairman of the National Advisory Council (NAC), DNKI, said that one of the major objectives of the organization is to render service to humanity and raise men and women of honor.

He mentioned that in the area of children, the organization worldwide provides scholarships, textbooks, and amenities in schools in all its branches globally.

"It is important that we provide an easy way for the children to learn and encourage parents to send their children to school. Let's set good examples and encourage our young ones to look up to us and see that it pays to serve. We want them to grow up and become responsible citizens to the country and to their families,” he added.

Ityobegh also appealed to the government to make education accessible and attainable for all.

Chairman of DNKI, Abuja Chapter, Mr. Kolawole Otepola, said that “the Northern part of Nigeria is classified as an educationally disadvantaged area, so we deem it fit to give back to the society where we were bred and nurtured into responsible adults. We still have other programs for the north, including plans for the security agencies. It's not just about education alone."

Otepola said DNKI in December will be organizing a program to provide patrol vehicles to the Nigerian Police to boost security in the north.

Also speaking, the Director of Humanitarian Services, DNKI, High Chief Rasheed Ganiyu, reaffirmed the association commitment on children welfare

"As a humanitarian organization, we are committed to ensuring that every child has access to the resources they need to thrive."

"Let us reaffirm our commitment to providing children with Quality education; Healthcare and nutrition and give them opportunities for growth and development."

Convener/Director, Northern Liaison, DNKI, Comrade Jegede Femi-Daniels, said the organization aims to eradicate the high rate of illiteracy in the north while promising to replicate the organization’s gestures in other parts of the Northern region.

DNKI is a Non-Governmental Organization that conducts humanitarian service with the aim of giving back to society.
