I am pretty sure the order was given directly from the UK to Tinubu to change the National Anthem

YOU ARE RIGHT
They did it just to ridicule Nigeria

colonially created national anthem whose first stanza drips wet with the spit of racist condescension, gender exclusion, and stodgy, ungainly archaisms. --- Kperogi.

An Anthem of northern military dictators with stanza like the labor of our heroes past; heroes including Muritalla Mohammed, the murderer of Asaba, the Anthem is a most repulsive National Anthem any country can get.

I will never make an attempt to recite that shit

It is actually an EXCELLENT anthem. Best in the world in my opinion. Great anthem indeed. Here it is:

Nigeria we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all, and proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

One good thing from BAT

You think it is easy? Because BAT did it so easily.
It will be EXTREMELY difficult to change the anthem again

Most of the people criticizing the new national anthem don't even know how to sing the discarded one. But they are the ones making noise about it the most. Why not let the school children sing it if you as an adult can't?

Take for instance, the demented Peter Obi, he can't sing the old or new anthems but is very good reciting the Biafran anthem. The mumu agulu idiot failed his only son who became a homosexual but is telling you that he can fix Nigeria shocked
A news about Nigeria anthem and Kpogori, somehow you pinned it to PO, can you see the demented one here grin grin
Can your father sing either old or new?? >: grin

The new national anthem did its job.

It distracted Nigerians from the fact that Tinubu government has no tangible achievement to showcase after 1 year in office.

As usual, like babies, Nigerians got distracted by noise.

As an independent country Nigeria is a joke. Better to even be recolonized. The country is not working... Nigerians have displayed uncommon greed, selfishness, ineptitude and cluelessness.

The first stanza : arise o compatriots, Nigeria's call obey is like a call to war. The framers of the constitution had intended for continuation of wars in Nigeria.
President Tinubu has flaws but he is very smart on this.

The National Anthem agreed upon by all segments of Nigeria at independence was changed by military dictators from a section of the country.

The second anthem is a compilation of lines from five writers of which some were stolen from the old anthem. Whereas, It took a non nigerian to pen a unity based anthem

Commenting on some of the issues plaguing the nation is almost a waste of time. Reverting to the old, discarded national anthem is strange. Stranger is the support that this action has received from some youth. The future is categorically for the old in this country. Let the drama continue

What I find interesting is that both Kperogi and Reno are helping to define "tribe" and "native" in their proper context.

And this reminds me of what I wrote on my blog sometime ago.

Most of things we say in English, we don't really know the meaning in the native speakers context. Because only the owner of a language can have an organic experience with meaning in that language. No matter how much you speak the English language, you cannot have an organic experience with meaning. You have to be literally mad to have an organic experience with the English language, i e your brain chemistry would have to work differently than a normal African.

Certainly, white people have damaged something in our brains on the African continent. This has to be the reason why such an irrational thing as reversing to a colonial anthem would be passed as law. But I am trying to figure out whether this damage has been before the whites arrived.

Only a brain-dead people can throw away a national anthem written by themselves in exchange for one written by a foreigner.

Omo, Reno come see your mate.

It seems our senators cant do any findings and this Anthem appears to climax Apc use of tribalism since 2014.

We have to come out of the Pit Apc led us into before we start talking about redemption as a country.

Power must always be held in trust for the people by a few good men. The mob is a woman, and is most times more emotional than logical.

To me, Kperogi stringed words together out of emotions rather than reason or logic

Reverting to Nigeria we hail thee is a spiritual masterstroke. This is the anthem we used during the time of our prosperity. Arise O Compatriots has got to be one of the most soulless and meaningless national anthems ever adopted by a nation, it recognized nothing of our diversity, and attempted to fuse us into one national mass by military fiat and in so doing we became an unwieldy and dysfunctional mess of a nation. 46 years later, who are our heroes past? Which lofty heights have we attained as a dysfunctional mass?

The mob is a woman.
