Did you know that Nigeria is home to the largest population of twins in the world? The Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria have a remarkably high twinning rate, with an estimated 20-30 twins per 1,000 births.

This is significantly higher thanks the global average of 6-9 twins per 1,000 births. Scientists have attributed This phenomenon to the high consumption of cassava, a staple food in the region, which contains a natural hormone that may stimulate the release of multiple eggs during ovulation.

This unique genetic trait has made Nigeria a hub for twin-related research and studies.
