1. NLC and TUC to Proceed with Strike: The high-ranking officials of the National Assembly met with the national leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) but failed to reach an agreement on Sunday. The unions declared their intention to proceed with the planned strike starting today.
2. Strike Action can lead you to jail says AGF: Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, cautioned employees considering participating in the ongoing indefinite strike called by labor unions that they could face up to six months in prison (https://nigerianews247.com/nigeria-news/agf-labours-strike-declaration-premature-and-illegal/), as per a statement released by the Federal Government.
3. 5. Reported Decrease in Cooking Gas price: Recently, it seems that the price of cooking gas, also known as liquefied petroleum gas, has been decreasing. Consumers in areas such as Ogun, Lagos, and Oyo have reported that the average price for 1 kilogram of cooking gas is now below N1,000, varying based on location and seller.
6. CBN reacts to widespread acceptance of Islamic banking by Nigerians: The Central Bank of Nigeria announced on Sunday its satisfaction with the widespread acceptance of Islamic banking by Nigerians, despite initial concerns that it was a move towards Islamization. CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso made this statement during a reception held in Abuja to recognize Dr. Umar Oseni, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre.
7. NDLEA apprehended a grandfather in Nasarawa State for possession of 57.2kg of cannabis: Authorities from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency apprehended a 70-year-old grandfather in Nasarawa State for possession of 57.2kg of cannabis. Additionally, they confiscated over N2.1bn worth of codeine-based syrup and loud, a synthetic cannabis variant, at both the Port Harcourt seaports and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
