The daily pay of a laborer in Nigeria is 3,000 Naira.
One loaf of bread costs 2,000 Naira.
One bottle of Orobo Pepsi costs 500 Naira.
One derica of beans costs 1500.

Any monthly minimum wage below 200,000 is a hogwash.

Yes! 490k minimum wage is not realistic. Government proposed 100k which is realistic. Labor said government should break the proposed wages down. This shows dishonesty on the part of the government.

Even if the breakdown is bad, drop it and let them dialogue with it.
FG proposed 60k not 100k

This time LP beat our Dubai-based former VP, HE Atiku to it. Well, it's better late than never.

Every reasonable Nigerian knows that what they are demanding for minimum wage is unrealistic and a strike called by labour unions affiliated to political interests led by non-Muslims, just few days to Eid , is already laced with religious bigotry, insensitive and partisan.

All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose.
May God bless Nigeria for ever!Check my signature for free stuffs!

But only Tinubu and shettima spent N8.6b on travelling in just 3 months. We didn't hear you calling them enemies of Nigeria. If they are living and spending ostentatiously, why are you expecting labour not to ask for 400k a month?

To increase subsidy, u don't stress urself. U just announced during speech on ur swearing in as a president. U increased price of everything without stress and masses trying to cope. National assembly, and VP got billions of naira to renovate and buy cars, without stress. Ur and ur VP spent 8.6billions within just few months for traveling, no stress. Now, to increase minimum wages, u now turned their representatives to errands boys and girls with different meetings upon meetings and offering them just 60k. What for? They broke down how they came up with the 615k, then u also should break down how u reached the 60k and let everyone hear. Where is the money they removed from fuel and electricity subsidy. Fuel subsidy is now over 1 years, yet, government already borrowed over 21trillion naira.
Imagine borrowing 21trillion, and nothing to show for it. No impact on the citizens or economy

The more minimum wage increases the more the price of things shoot.up. if you ask me, increasiing minimum wage is not the solution that we need.

From 18k to 30k did it cure the epileptic state of the economy....NO. more we keep recycling our experience the more we get getting the same result.

Government and labour should stop the cat and mouse game.

Solution is;

1. Categorise the minimum wage according to business type/turnover.

Subsistence businesses - (less than 2m pa.) 35k
nano and micro businesses (2m-10m pa) 65k
Small business (11m-50m pa) - 100k
Medium businesses (51m-100m pa) - 130k
Big businesses (101m-2b pa) - 180k
Large coporations (2.1b and above) 200k
Governments at all levels - 150k

Then ALL political office holders should earn minimum wage of government. If a state government pays less than approved minimum wage, all political office holders from that state should earn the minimum, including the representatives at national assembly

2. Peg customs exchange at N500 to $1 for 2 years. This would create stability and bring down prices immediately.

3. Invest heavily in security, especially drones to track attacks. This would allow people go back to farms.

4. All government & political office holders should purchase only locally assembled vehicles. No exemptions. Car purchase by government is a major source of drain on fx and very unproductive spending.

5. Tie income to taxes and assets. A major cause of our problems is that some people spend recklessly on unproductive things because there is no accountability, no tax commitments. People have assets of over N2bn but pay annual tax of less than N500k. How?

These are immediate steps that should be taken pending when other measures can come into play.
I like your analysis. When things was not has costly like this, people were able to manage 85k,100k&150k. Nowadays people spent what they earn on expensive foodstuffs & transport,it took average to 65% of their earnings. Health, medicine & miscellaneous 25%. Nigeria civil servants are earning to feed on crumbs. After 35yrs, many didn't end well, they die of hypertension, depression or regrets

they should double or triple the 60k. Things we use to buy for 50Naira is now 100Naira, 100Naira things are now 150#, soaps of 100#/#120 is now 300Naira. Prices of things are double & triple now. Tax are double or triple now. Wages/ salaries should be double too. They should balance the equation, else this government will fail woefully. Price of fuel should be look into

Has Tinubu and Nigeria lawmakers reduced their salaries and allowances niii? Keep on defending your oppressors. Either they increase the minimum wage or not, there will always be inflation in the Nigeria economy cos’ of over spending of Nigeria politicians on frivolities.

This strike is politically motivated. The NLC is being used by some powers that be, especially from the North to fight Tinubu. Otherwise, why would they insist on an unrealistic minimum wage? The citizens are already backed to the corner by the situations in the country, and now this? The suffering will be unimaginable. No electricity even in hospitals. The banks are shut down thereby preventing already suffering people to access the little they have saved. As a last resort, I think the government ought to dispatch it's full might to quell this sponsored and disguised rebellion against the government. Some people should be picked up and DSS'ed. Tinubu himself should leave Abuja and move to Dodan Barracks or his Bourdillon estate to avoid an assassination plot against him by this cabal.

Who won pay them that one before...80 to 100k is okay. Who nor fit manage that one should look for sth else to do. 30k is wicked.

I pray they succeed because tinubu doesn't look interested atm

Everybody knows FG won't pay what labour is asking including labour themselves, the actual target is around 100k.
If they start with 100k FG will pay less at the end of the day. This is labour strategy to land at that 100k at the end of the day. So let the strike continue to FG do the needful.

You people should use logic and deductive reasoning when posting comments. Someone brought a valid argument as to the futility of increasing minimum wage, especially the unrealistic one being demanded, but all you can do is to present an emotional, fallacious and unrelated premise for implementing such a policy. Do you people even think at all?
