The Bafana Bafana squad and officials were forced to spend the night in Port Harcourt after being unable to reach Uyo for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The South African team arrived in Port Harcourt from Johannesburg on Wednesday night but couldn’t proceed to Uyo because the airport had closed before their scheduled departure.

Disappointed with the situation, Bafana Bafana expressed their frustration on their X platform.

“Bafana Bafana have been on the road for 18 hours and are still not at their base in Nigeria. The team is currently at Port Harcourt Airport, having cleared customs and awaiting transfer to a hotel to spend the night.”
