Urgent request for
Government Intervention on Student User Charges and Tuition Fees in Benue state university markurdi.

We hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to draw your immediate attention to the pressing issues facing students on our campus regarding user charges and tuition fees. As concerned members of the student community, we feel it is crucial to highlight the financial burdens these charges impose and to seek the government's urgent intervention to alleviate this growing crisis.Over the past few years, there has been a significant and continuous increase in tuition fees and additional user charges for various essential services such as acceptance fee and other administrative costs. This escalating financial pressure is causing severe strain on students and their families, many of whom are already struggling to manage the costs of higher education. The consequences of these financial burdens are manifold:
Increased Dropout Rates: Many students are forced to abandon their studies due to their inability to meet the financial demands, which undermines their future prospects and the overall educational attainment in our community.Mental Health Issues: The stress and anxiety stemming from financial insecurity are contributing to a rise in mental health issues among students. This situation not only affects academic performance but also has long-term impacts on the well-being of our youth.Inequality in Education: High tuition fees and user charges disproportionately affect students from low-income backgrounds, thereby exacerbating existing inequalities and hindering social mobility.

In light of these urgent issues, we respectfully urge the government to consider the following measures:

Review and Regulate Tuition Fees: Implement policies to cap and regulate tuition fee increases to ensure that higher education remains affordable for all.

Subsidies and Financial Aid: Increase funding for scholarships, grants, and financial aid programs to support students in need and reduce the dependency on student loans.
Reduction of User Charges: Mandate educational institutions in Benue state to minimize or eliminate non-essential user charges and ensure transparency in the use of any collected fees.

Support for Mental Health Services: Provide additional resources to enhance mental health services on campus to support students dealing with financial stress and other related issues.

Addressing these concerns requires swift and decisive action from our government! we mean this current active administration by taking these steps, we can ensure that higher education remains accessible and equitable, fostering a brighter future for all students.we are confident that with your leadership and commitment, we can make significant strides towards resolving these critical issues. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We look forward to your positive response and swift action.
